There is no proof that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married and had a child.

Mary Magdalene was a wonderful disciple of Jesus. I'm sure she loved Him on a spiritual level. She was one of the first to see the Resurrection (i.e. to realize that even though the physical body of Jesus was dead, Christ was truly alive).

However, the whole marriage concept is based on an interpretation of certain Gnostic gospels. These gospels were written long after Jesus lived and were based on a mixture of Eastern mysticism and Christian teachings. They were not truly based on historical facts.

If I'm not mistaken, the idea that their daughter was named Sarah comes from the "Da Vinci Code". According to "Bloodline of the Holy Grail" by Laurence Gardner, the supposed couple had a son named Jesus Justus, who visited Britain. None of these ideas can be proven historically.

Youd have to ask the group in the South of France that prays to a statue of Sarah and claims she is the daughter of Jesus and Mary....

There is no Da Vinci Code. It was a work of fiction.

While Christians will tell you there is no evidence that Jesus was married, there is in fact evidence - right inside the Bible. Jesus is called Rabbi Jesus many times in the Bible...you could NOT become a rabbi UNLESS you were married. Also, a close reading of the story of the wedding at Canna (sp?) reveals taht it appears that Jesus was responsible for feeding and providing alcohol for rthe guests - a task usually reserved for the GROOM.

The DaVinci Code is a work of fiction, but if you believe that Jesus was a Jewish leader (Rabbi) then you must believe that he was married. As I believe (but am not Jewish so not 100% sure) that in order to be a Rabbi a man must be married. Besides, many books were left out or changed to suit some power hungry potentate's views That I think it is almost impossible to say what is and is not. The bible has been revised, edited, translated, rewritten time and again.

I don't know about the Vatican but there is zero reason to believe the premise you mentioned. It comes from a document called "The gospel of Thomas" that comes from the Gnostics, a kinda wacky cult that branched off of early Christianity. The document itself is dated much later than the Biblical gospel accounts, well after all eyewitness to Christ's life were dead. So it's the word of Christ's contemporaries against the word of a few kooks a couple centuries later.

What would the vatican know about things that happened prior to 28 AD?

Why would you think the vatican would have any credible information on Jesus' life on this earth.

The Da Vinci code is fiction. Who really knows what happened 2000 odd years ago.

Jesus never had sex with a woman. He was and is divine and holy. He also never married. And quite frankly, I trust the writers of and the Book itself, The Bible, more than I trust the writer of and the book itself, The Da Vinci Code.

The DaVinci Code is a piece of fiction and that is all. Some of the gospels referenced in it do exist, but whether they are accurate and true is another question. Do some research on it all and decide for yourself.

We will never know the truth. 2000 years ago you didn't have to get a marriage license, get a blood test, take vows with witnesses, and basically spin cartwheels through City Hall to get married. You just did it, without any written records.
