As long as your card has a major credit card company logo on it (VISA, MASTERCARD, etc), then you're good to go.

Yes but make sure your have plenty of money in your account and check what your daily authorization limit is. Some airlines put big holds on your account that will not be removed for several days.

Big holds can be put on your card from restaurants, hotels, and car rentals, Gas stations.

In the U.S. there are a few car rentals that do take debit cards.

I have booked tickets with both Midwest Airlines and Northwest Airlines with a debit card without any problems.

the airlines will definately take a debit card if it is one such as VISA, MC or Discover. Just beware most car rental places will not take a debit card.
