Holy crap... she needs to weigh at least above 95 pounds. If you can see her rib cage, then it's not good. She definitely has an eating disorder and might be anorexic. First, talk to your friend and honestly ask her what is going on w/ her. Then, tell her to eat more and gain weight. If she doesn't want to do that, then just tell her parents even if your friend tells you to not tell her parents. Overcoming an eating disorder is difficult later on.

What kind of parents does she have???// Her parents should have noticed that something is wrong w/ her just by looking at her facial visage.

No, it is not normal. 61 pounds for a 5 foot 2 frame is way too skinny. I used to weigh 73 pounds, and my doctor made me put on 25 pounds.(mostly lean muscle tissue) I am also 5 foot 2 and am 16. There has to be a reason why she is that thin. For me, it was annorexia, but she should see a doctor. Just because somebody eats does not mean they don't have an eating disorder. She may or she may not. Only a doctor can evaluate that. I ate 2 solid meals a day and a light snack, but was still annoerexic because I was underweight and did not want to gain anything. At that rate, she is risking osteoperosis and a number of other health factors. You should not beable to see her bones petruding. That is unhealthy....period. Talk to an experienced adult about the situation, because there is a reason why she is emaciated. It could be a health condition such as Thyroid, also.

Have you seen the pictures of the people released from Auschwitz? You can see their rib cages and their bones coming out of their bodies. This girl is starved, whatever you say about she eats. Maybe she only eats when she's around you, or maybe she goes and tosses it in the bathroom afterwords. But this girl is going to die if no one gets her to real medical care. Sixty-one pounds would be normal for a child of maybe four feet tall.

It's not even close to being healthy! She should be AT LOWEST 105 lbs. Her BMI is roughly 11.2, making her emaciated. There's only one reason I can think of that would put her that low - an eating disorder. Are you really sure she's eating and keeping it in there? Sounds like Anorexia. Anorexics have so many tricks to make it look like they're eating, and most of the time they go and purge anything they do eat.

my sisters are very skinny, but this is beyond very skinny. Don't accuse her of being anorexic, but you should, you know, investigate.

FOR EXAMPLE:
if she is sleeping over her house and she goes the the bathroom right after dinner, say you have to get something from a room near it and listin outside the bathroom door. If you hear gagging, say something to her or your parents or her parents

also consider:
is this a recent thing?
is she uncomfortable about her body?
does she get antsy when you talk about body issues (fat/thin, that type of thing) or food?

if yes to any of these questions, you need to investigate not to be nosy, but for her own good.

Not Normal something is wrong medically or she has an eating disorder
5'2", 61 lbs.
Your BMI score is: 11.1

A BMI score of less than 18.5 indicates you are underweight. You may wish to consult with your healthcare professional or nutritionist to discuss whether any health risks are associated with being underweight

Too skinny. If she is eating (and not purging) is there fat content in it? If so, have her see the doctor for her thyroid. I too looked anorexic as a teen and they found out my thyroid was basically causing my body to eat its own muscles for food.

If there is no fat content in the food, she needs it, in order to have her body develop correctly. I suggest professional intervention if she is not willing and eager to find out what is wrong.

61 lbs at 5'2 is very, very underweight by about 40-50 lbs. it is also very rare for a person to normally be that light with out some kind of underlying cause.

has she seen a endocrinologist?

She might be eating but i bet that not too long after she eats she takes a trip to the bathroom to make herself throw up the food she ate.
