My friend's daughter was the same way. She gave her chocolate milk, yogurt, orange juice with calcium, and cheese. Also make sure to give a daily vitamin and you should have no problems.

I have twins. One has never drunk milk in his life and gets his calcium from yogurt and cheeses,he will have milk on weet-bix and as long as it is warmed up he eats about 6 so this takes a lot of milk for this I am thankful as he is not a fan of cheese either and will only eat it in a peanut butter sandwich (longer story how that started lol) make sure he eats lots of veggies especially the green ones and these days you can even get breads with calcium
My daughter on the other hand finally started drinking milk at age 4. We tried different milks until she found one she liked, low fat is the prefered. Different brand milks taste different. Try a few and see how you go. Soy milk goat milk rice milk none were the answer for us

If the toddler doesn't drink it because of it bothering him try a milk that is lactose free. I use to buy my son one. Tasted like milk not the problems associated with it. If its because of the flavor try a flavored milk they even have an orange and vanilla flavored milk.

If a toddler does not take milk , then it is probably due to the milk intolerance , then the next best alternative is to try the soya milk for the toddlers.

When I tried to switch my daughter from formula to milk she would not drink it, and she didn't like ice cream or cheese. My pediatrician told me to give her 1\2 of a tums for calcium and 30 minutes of sunlight everday for vitamin D. She is 4 years old now and still doesn't drink milk but now she eats cheese and ice cream, don't worry about it too much, she'll get the nutrients from other foods also.

Does he not drink it because he does not like it? or because he has a problem when he does drink it??

If # 1 is the problem.. add a little chocolate or strawberry syrup. my kids never like plain milk and even with the added sugar from the syrup it is still less the juice, and he will be getting the vitamins from milk.

If # 2 is the problem talk to you Pedi, and try soymilk or Lactaid milk

If it is because of intolerance, I drink milk from a brand called Lactaid, which is real milk but lacks the lactose enzyme. Tastes fine, and it lasts longer than normal milk.

Get the OJ that has calcium and vitamin D added. I think there is apple juice like that too. It has just as much as milk does minus the fat, hormones, antibiotics and pesticides. OJ is also rich in Vitamin C and fat free.

Yogurt and cheese are also good options but they should be organic and low fat varieties.

Try mixing a little bit of chocolate Pediasure with the milk. It should give it a better flavor! If he still rejects it, then try Soy.

Does he reject it because he just doesn't like it? Or do you suspect lactose intolerance?

Try soy milk or goat milk. My son refuses to drink milk so I give him yogurt drinks instead.
