Work out, sleep, take a hot shower or bath, read a book, listen to music, watch a movie...escape to some fun activity that helps you relax.

When IN stress, always practice breathing techniques, proven by Countless Hypnotists, even Anthony Robbins, and Dale Carnegie for some big names. Like waiting in a courtroom for your case - breathe in (deeply) through your NOSE SLOWLY and HOLD to the Count of five-5 (1,2,3,4,5), then breathe OUT through your MOUTH SLOWLY (lips pursed, so people don't see you! lol), to the count of 8 backwards (8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1). Do this as many times as you need, but at least twice.

If you are in a stressful PERIOD OF TIME, (heavy work week deadlines, etc.), then set yourself to daytime AND night-time listening of MUSIC, but I am here recommending SUBMLIMINAL music for the purpose of stress. Steven Halpern, Ph.D., is world-renowned for his healing music, played in Major Health Centers, on Oprah and many major networks, as well as in offices, etc. You can find a good selection (especially the Health & Wellbeing or Relaxation CDs) at: http://www.teplitz.com/book_epn_cart.htm#psm

I probably don't need to mention it but -during stressful PERIODS of time -sleep is paramount, and often you find you don't sleep as you should, especially when stressed, and yet this is a huge factor in many areas of successful living - LACK OF WHICH WILL CERTAINLY BE CAUSED BY AND ACCELERATE Stress! I would then highly recommend this particular Subliminal:

Also excerise and eating habits, during prolonged stress - all things in BALANCE is the key to managing Stress. Tara Geise, a registered dietitian (RD) in private practice in Orlando, Florida, and a spokesperson for American Dietetic Association says, "One of the keys - is avoiding things that will give your body and mind real highs and lows like caffeine and alcohol. You don't want to intake a lot of stimulants or a lot of depressants when you're stressed." Geise also recommends skipping sugary snacks you tend to crave as stress builds up. "Sugar causes your blood sugar to spike and then fall quickly, which can make your energy level dip," says Geise. "Then you're low energy and stressed and that's not a good picture." For Downloadable and GOOD info on Stress & Foods, I recommend looking here:

Try adding aromatherapy, candles, hot baths or a jacuzzi if you have access to one, and - if you can - a glass of wine a couple evenings a week - to "give you some YOU time", which is well known to work on stress. And - don't forget the basics - breathing, sleep, diet & excersize are all important, and work together, so think of it in a macrocosmic manner.
http://www.reducingstress.net/

Take up Yoga, it will cover many of these points for diet, excersize and relaxation techniques, even if you only delve into it in the most basic ways - for breathing and relaxation. Then, listen to the music on a regular basis - make it PART of your life for prolonged effects (without you realizing it, and it's all enjoyable!). For alot of information and ways to reduce stress in ALL circumstances, visit:
http://www.reducingstress.net/

And lastly, since I'm currently doing research on stress and migraines, I would recommend learning a technique called Shiatsu - which is quick, simple and highly effective for immediate need. There are many books with illustrations, but for an almost "inperson" instruction, I recommend looking at:
http://www.migraineandheadache.com/Migraine-Headache-Pages/Shiatsu.html
for Shiatsu training and information.

You might also try the GOOD THINGS page, there is a system for stress relief called Switched-On Living (tv presentation to view), and a book which costs very little to learn those techniques, and it has a nice paragraph on subliminals and what they are.
http://www.migraineandheadache.com/Migraine-Headache-Pages/Good-Things.html

They all work together. It's not just ONE, but try a combination of watching all these to relax yourself subconsciously over days, or a lifetime - not just a moment of breathing (great for the court-room quickie!). Stress compounds, and must be attacked with proven methods!

I hope you find the above info helpful, and most of all, effective.
Best wishes!
