Whatever you want to do. If you want to have a sweet 16 birthday party then go for it. I had one. It was alright. I also had one on my 17 birthday. If you ask me my 17 birthday was better. Because I was a year away from being 18. An adult. But really it's up to you. Why don't you have a sweet 16 birthday party. And when you turn 17 have 17th birthday party. When you turn 17 it's very special because it's the last year that you will have before you are an adult. That's important. After your 18 that's it. You are not a kid any more. Enjoy it while it lasts. I'm sure you will figure out something. Everything will work out. It always does. One way or the other.

It shouldn't be a shame to have been held back in THIRD GRADE. There are plenty of kids in your shoes. Ha, I live in a rural area and more than half of the kids are not in the right grades, and no one thinks a thing of it. Many of them are two years behind. Anyway, I think you should have a sweet 16 party when you turn 16. Don't worry about what others think. They'll just enjoy the party and envy your being able to drive a year earlier... When I was growing up honestly by your age we just didn't think anything bad about someone being a year older in our grade.

Do your friends know you got held back a grade? Would they care? Keep in mind that if they learn about it, the rest of your grade will probably hear, too - would your classmates tease you, and if so, could you handle it?

In the end, it's up to you. Is there some reason that 16 is meaningful to you? My 16th birthday was pretty quiet.
