God knows that we are all sinful, but he doesn't accept " but I'm only huuuumaaaaannnnn" as an excuse not to do our best in our service to him and in our efforts to live a life to his standards.
To live a life that would make God happy, we would want to follow the two laws that Jesus set forth after he himself fulfilled the Mosaic Covenant ( 10 commandments + the other many laws he set forth then.) These being:
1. Love your neighbor as yourself. If you do this, you aren't going to be stealing from him, abusing him, trying to cheat him, or doing anything to him that you would feel to be wrong if done to YOU.
The second thing Jesus told us to do was to Love our God with our whole minds, heart, soul and body. This means we would want to do NOTHING in our daily lives that would bring shame upon ourselves and thus onto God. This would include excessive drinking, gluttony, abusive speech, lying, cheating, being abusive of people, killing or hurting people, practicing warfare or any other practice that would bring pain or discomfort to our fellow man. Rather, we should be willing to lay down our very lives for our fellow man, whether we even know them or not.
To practice either of these commands simply means to do one thing:
To show LOVE.
It sounds so easy, doesn't it? Show love..love love love.. save kittens.. help children...take care of old people... * sigh * Bliss..
But showing LOVE also means being polite while driving and not giving into or doing things to cause 'road rage', maybe taking the futher parking space so an elderly couple wouldn't have to walk so far, stuff like this. It also needs to be practiced in the home as well as in public and in the congregation. Loving our family means doing little things that could make thier lives easier.
These are ways in which you could improve as a christian. Also, every day study your Bible. Find out what it REALLy says and put those truths into your everyday life. Don't just take the scriptures that your priest or preacher wants you to read, read the whole thing. And if there are parts that they cannot answer, find someone who can explain them! The Bible is NOT the great hidden mystery that people proclaim it to be. Its truth, right there in black and white. Study it and pray about what you read, praying for understanding and discernment and God will help you to find your way to being a better servant of his.

I was going to say the same things some of the other answers said, obey God and have faith, but let me add these.
"Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord." (Col. 3:20)
1 John 3:22-23 says we do what pleases him when we keep his commandments and believe in Jesus.
Col 1:10 says we are pleasing when we walk in a worthy manner.
1 Thes. 2:4 says we should speak things not to please men, but to please God, so we please God when we speak and teach the gospel.
I hope these thoughts added to the other good answers are helpful to you.

You have to have Faith to please God
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
and seek Him
and do other things listed here....
Hebrews 10:6
with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
Hebrews 10:8
First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made).
Hebrews 10:38
But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
and be like Enoch
Hebrews 11:5
By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away.
For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.
Hebrews 13:16
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Good question: Have faith (heb. 11:6), Obey Him, love others and Him. Do not bother to please men as much as please Him! (Paul said so).
Try not to sin, and if you do, apply 1 John 1:9.
The only fact that you want and are worried about pleasing God, is great! God bless.

Jesus sacrifice took care of the problem of sin and when we accept his sacrifice for our sin God no longer sees it. It's covered by his blood. And yes he does love us.

Why not do exactly as his son did? His son was here for 30-some years and devoted his entire life to helping the downtrodden. Seems obvious to me
