Tylenol or aspirin (anti-inflammatories) will work better than Advil (muscle relaxer)- clove is a very effective dental remedy. Excedrin maybe good. Smells like a lawsuit to me. I mean, root canal can take up to 3 visits, but you get pain medicine in between I would think.
Peace!

I'm not sure what you mean by "partial root canal" but anyway, I suppose that you mean that the doctor hasn't started the obturation yet and the tooth pulp is still there. If so, then rinse your mouth with very cold water and/or put a bag of ice (or anything cold) on your cheek on the side of the painful tooth, this will eliminate the pain instantly.

Swish some hard alcohol around in your mouth. I prefer Jack Daniels. I'm serious...

Instead of swishing hard alcohol in your mouth, drink down a whole cup (or however much you can tolerate) and just get buck drunk. That'll get rid of the pain in seconds!

pure vanilla extract for those that do not drink. it works great. you cant use the imitation. the deal is that it has a decent alcohol content and will numb the pain. whatever you do, do not use heat. it will promote spreading of any infection that could be there. might be a temporary relief but you will pay later

try a 40% spirit like whiskey/gin/rum etc. and just hold it in your mouth by the bad tooth - don't swallow it - it can help to numb it, I sympathize as have had this it can be agony - the only true solution is to get it sorted at the dentist though. good luck.
