If you take a loan as an advance against your refund, which some tax prep agencies allow you to do, then you'll pay high fees. They don't necessarily come out and call it a loan, they use terms like rapid refund.

Other than that, the time to get your refund depends on when you file, not who files it. Most tax preparers would file the same day as they prepared your return if you're having them file electronically. From there, it's in the hands of the IRS.

Your refund comes faster if you file electronically than if you mail it, and faster if you have it direct deposited into your account than if you have them mail you a check. For electronic filing, direct deposit, will take only 7-10 days.

The timing of your refund is determined by two factors: When the IRS computer receives your return, and if you select direct deposit or a check in the mail. Any e-file provider will be the same for both of these factors. If you mail a paper return, the Post Office and the IRS clerk that enters the return into the computer are the only variables. In any case, the tax service you use makes absolutely no difference.

I use the on line version of Tax Act or Turbo Tax and with direct deposit into my checking account, I've never waited more than 16 days for any refund.

You could also try H & R Block who will advance you the amount of your refund(s), then when the check does come, (snail mail) you turn it over to them for repayment. But, I opt for the Tax Act on line, myself.

Most efile programs will get your return to you in about 2 weeks if you direct deposit.
