Depends on the community. Recycled resources need to be purchased in order to not end up in the landfill anyway. The dirty little secret of recycling is that, in places that mandate it, 90% to 95% of the recycled material is thrown into a landfill because it is not purchased for use. The result is a huge waste of money and even greater pollution than if the material was simply thrown away the first time. The whole thing (like almost all environmental issues) is a huge scam. It shouldn't be. It doesn't have to be. But it is.

The reason is simple. The people who run the show with environmentalism, on all levels, from grass roots organizations to actual government employees don't actually care about the environment. These institutions have been taken over by bad people with a sick agenda that have absolutely no intention of doing anything to protect the environment whatsoever.

You would be hard pressed to find an exception.

No Kevin, recycling can not onlt break even, it can turn a profit. This stuff is "waste" but not in the useless sense. It represents valuable resources being wasted. Some communities "lease" their recycling to private companies and both still profit. ultimately the only real waste is in non-renewable resources and energy. You can make those more efficient but they always are used up--until someone beats the Laws of Thermodynamics. Michael

Recycling is good.I put more stuff to be recycled in the bin than what I do in the garbage bin.Recycling materials is good for the environment. I buy recycled toilet paper and it is cheaper than the non recycled paper. On the other hand Iwould like not to buy so much stuff wrapped in plastic and this is something manufacturers need to look at.Often its not recyclable.Products that are heavily wrapped we pay more forwhich is not good for the environment. We pay more for non recyclable goods.
