Crude oil started when Mother nature introduced plants to earth. Plants absorb CO2 and keep the C and give us back the O2 . All plants do photosynthesis that accompanist the above. If u follow the C side u can trace it to petroleum . The plants grow big as the CO2 accelerates their growth ,so when the frost kill them ,the leaves are washed down the rivers to the delta where they decompose And form Gas ,Oil ,And Coal . It is a natural material. Where do u think our original fossil fuels came from.
