It would depend on what the different religion was. I am Christian so I may date someone Jewish because it is the basis for Christianity. I would not date a Muslim or Hindu though; in that case I would prefer an atheist. However, at this point I would not date anyone that is not Christian. So much of who I am is determined by my faith, and I would have a hard time dating someone that does not have the same morals/beliefs that I do. You cannot go into any relationship HOPING to change someone. You have to accept them how they are.

Maybe a better question is "would atheists date religious people".
Religion divides people, It tends to encourage feeling a superiority based on your association with a particular group, and criticism of any who disagree. It has caused more wars, death and abuse that any other motivation. That's not their creed or claim, but it is their history.
Doing what is right and being a person of good character has nothing to do with religion, and atheists know that. They also know that most religions preach otherwise while manipulating their followers.
I am neither. I believe in a higher power, but not in a god I can negotiate with. The power is mother nature, who defines the rules of life- and they aren't negotiable.
Dating a person with religious beliefs would depend totally on what those were, and how they affected that persons perception and actions. Personally- No thanks.

Christians will not date atheist or worshipers of other Gods - that is true believers who obey the commandments of the Bible.
The Bible in "2 Corinthians 6: 14 - 17 says :-
14. Do not be yoked together with unbelievers, for what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
15. What harmony is there between Christ and Beliar? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
16. What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said " I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they will be my people"
17. Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.

Personally, I would never date an unbeliever. I mean, who else but a believer would put up with the hours of Bible study, prayer and worship I do each day? And what would an unbeliever and I talk about? For me, everything comes down to my love for God. If I can't talk about God with my honey, I'd rather be alone.
I do not subscribe to the "maybe he'll convert" philosophy. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that you cannot change someone else. I prefer my evangelism to occur outside the home, thank you!

You're assuming that an atheist would put up with all the proselytizing of a Christian. As an Atheist, I am rather offended by this question and find it extremely arrogant. I would NEVER date a Christian!

I'd date anyone who has thought out and contiually grow in their beliefs or non-beliefs....I think a christian can have a decent relationship with an athiest if they both can questions their faith or lack of it, but are open-minded and continually seek out answers to life's tough questions. If the athiest thought all christians were brain-washed and retarded, then of course not. And vise-versa.
Being hot and sexy helps too.
Now if you talk marriage, that would be a tough question.

I would only befriend an atheist or person of another religion. I did marry a Christian. My faith is too important to me, to live with someone who could possibly be against it.

If I were single I would have no problem dating an Atheist or anyone else who was a different religion than me, provided that they respected my choices to hold my beliefs and refrain from pushing their beliefs (or lack thereof) on me.

I would date and Atheist if I liked Him otherwise. It is probably harder for an Atheist date me because I spend quite a lot of time at church and church activities.

can't think of a reason. Just kidding. I am married. The Bible does talk about an unequal yoke, like an ox and a donkey yoked up together would never work.
