He is probably reaching for straws on that one,but maybe he means calling Social Services to determine if you are getting the proper care, being that you are late for school a lot and probably tired in class too.Parents are responsible for making sure their kids get to school.

There is no law that I know off. But if the school finds that you are late too much and your school work is suffering for it, then you put your parents in a very difficult position. They will be talked to, and now you will be watch a home, so you will be punishing yourself in the long run. This could end up that the school says your parents are unfit, and then a social worker comes in and evaluates your home life. and her report could take you out of your home, These things have happened to other people, who really have done nothing that bad, but you've heard the saying people make a mountain out of a mole hill. Don't let that happen, as for thirteen year old While you are in school you should be in bed at a decent hour NOT 1:AM.

No,it's not illegal to stay up late,at least not where I am anyway. You should try to get to school on time though,to make your teachers happy. I agree with you completely with the no 13 year old goes to bed at 10 though.

There are no laws of when to go to bed , but if you are 13 years old you should not be staying up late especially on a school night. You could record your shows that come on late at night.

First of all, what he said is not true. What he possibly meant is that in most states there are curfews for minors - but you would have to be OUTSIDE in the neighborhood or around the town unchapperoned in order to be in trouble with the law. Secondly, think about what you are asking. You should not be late to school. In my city, too many tardies can bring a truant officer to your house and after four absences, the teachers have to submit students names to the truant officer. Then they come to visit parents and want to know why the child is missing days (it's required that students attend a certain amount of days per year). Additionally, if the child continues to miss days, the parent can get supeanoed and must attend court and see a judge. I know of one parent who had to serve jail time of 2 weeks for this situation. It has been proven that 13-17 year olds need more sleep than they think. When you deprive yourself of sleep, you are allowing your brain to shut down and not function the way it should. You need (13 yrs) at least 10 hours of sleep. WHen my daughter was in 8th grade - her bedtime was 9:00 ! At 13 - it was my bedtime and I found it worked. Good sleep, a good breakfast, and your brains' cells are ready to function and to learn the next day. Shut the t.v. off. Do you apply as much time to study????

Typically the answer is no, it is not illegal in the sense of a punishable crime. However, depending on your school and other local government by-laws it may be, and since you are 13, your parents are the responsible party. It never ceases to amaze me the little known by-laws certain small towns or schools have adopted. I've seen some schools require the parents to come into detention for the frequent tardiness of their children...so you just never know! To get the straight scoop in your area, I suggest you ask a person in authority, one that you trust to give you an honest answer in your school.

10 pm is curfue outside.. not sleeping.. however...going to bed by 11pm is fare.. Not becasue your a kid... but because EVERYONE... young and old... need good sleep to get anything done. I hate it when people say time is set according to age.. time is set to rest the body.. to not get sick... to be productive the next day..to be healthy.. it is for everyone.
You should go to sleep by 11pm because much is expected of you at school! Use your Friday and Saterday nights as your late nights.. You dont have to be Einstien to live an uncomplicated life.. I dont mean to get so passionate about this... sorry...

I don't know where you live so I don't know if it is illegal for you to be up that late. I do know that no matter WHERE I lived when my daughter was 13 her bedtime was 10:00pm and there were NO exceptions...mainly because she only got an hour of television on weekdays.
