Not a god, but it was Icarus....In Greek Mythology, he is the son of Daedalus who, in escaping from Crete on artificial wings made for him by his father, flew so close to the sun that the wax with which his wings were fastened melted and he fell into the Sea

Icarus, but he wasn't a god. Acording to Greek mythology he was a prisoner in a tower with his dad (daedilus?), and they made wings out of feathers and wax so they could escape. But Icarus wanted to fly as high as he could, and he got too close to the sun. Wax melted.....

I believe you're referring to Icarus. He wanted to fly, and made wings coated with wax, which melted when he flew too close to the sun. I'm not sure he was a god, and I don't have my mythology book handy.

he wasn't a god his name was Icarus ...with his father Dedalus is considered the first man to have tried flying. his homemade wings were kept together by wax so when he took off from the cliff the sun heated the wax melting it and he plunged to his death
