dimensions are different from parallel universes and according to M theory, there are 11 dimensions. This theory also proposes that our universe is but a bubble in a sea of parallel universes, meaning that every single possible outcome to an event occurs in a different universe. This means that in another universe, Napoleon could have won the battle of Waterloo, in another, Hitler conquered the world. It is staggering to consider, but it is possible. It is also possible to create a universe in a laboratory (in theory), and in an instant, this universe would break off from ours, and expand exponentially (just like ours did after the moment of the big bang) without displacing our own universe.

I don't believe in the parallel universe thing simply for the fact that time is circular. I'm not saying that a different era can't overlap and play over this reality. I do believe in the different dimensions though. There's lower dimensions that vibrate slower than what we (our souls) and the earth does and then there's higher dimensions that vibrate faster than our energies do, which the faster something vibrates the less you can see of it. Different 'beings' from different dimension can seep through to our dimension. I am an eyewitness of a 'being' from a lower level but I won't go into that here.

Not the outcome of the same event. But I believe any given event can have more than one outcome. Otherwise our free will is an illusion.

it potential diverse universes for each chance previous, present and destiny. string idea. in case you want to ascertain it defined visually, bypass on youtube and watch classy Universe. in case you want to have it defined through a e book (for non-physicists i.e. accepted human beings), examine Lisa Randall's e book. do merely not watch "imagining the 10th measurement." this is made by a guy who don't have a clue what he's speaking about. EDIT: It does pertain to what's in Golden Compass as you describe it, inspite of the indisputable fact that this is not restricted to a unmarried persons moves. each little thing might want to be changed and each little thing has diverse opportunities.

Believe it or not, there are quantum physicists who argue seriously about this.
There's a book called "The Fabric of Reality" which discusses it.
Hey, maybe I'm getting laid in an alternate universe right now. Nice thought.

Yes. In one universe, I am a war hero. In another, I am a mass murderer. And in another, I am a alcoholic drifter who throws middle fingers at passers by.
