Cause I have a bible and its sorta old and i want to keep in good condition so i was thinking of putting a strechty book cover on it. But i was afraid that the people at church would say that it would be rude and etc toward god and the bible.

I do not think it would be rude, I think it shows that you like your Bible. Besides, why should you care about what people at church say about your bible, as long as you read it and don't treat it like garbage or anything they should have nothing to
say!!!! If you really don't want to use a book sock, then cover your bible with those cases that zip and have a handle and everything. Hope I helped!!!!!!!!

Most Christian book stores sell Bible covers exactly to protect the thing. One of my first Bibles was given to me by another guy. It looked very much as if it had never had a cover. It's called "protecting your investment."
My wife found these book covers at Borders that are the best Bible covers I've ever seen: pockets for notes, pockets for pens + pencils, zip up for protection, carrying handles. Tres cool.

Nope, not rude. Christian Book stores sells hundreds of different models of bible covers.

People that spend a proper amount of time in their bible will always read through its ability to hold up physically and people understand that its good to have a cover.

Most people that walk around with a new looking bible for years at church....either arent reading it at home...or they have one for church and one for home.

Good old Bibles are wonderful, aren't they? I wouldn't part with mine either. No, I don't think that is wrong, you are just trying to preserve the book you love. Many people carry them in bible cases to my Church. God looks at our hearts, honey, not the book cover. God Bless.

Well you could be exactly right on.
Those snooty religious pious bigots Just might make up some foolish rule to embarrass you
But since you expressed your concern for it's age and condition, Most definitely cover it for daily use.
but remove the cover to rub their noses.
PS I never had a need for one.
Throw chapter and verse and I ask for the Gospel of Mary. It is a history book untill we have them all.

Just put in inside an attractive Bible cover. Christian book stores sell them, but they are usually limited in the variety they sell. You can check online, such as www.bible-cover-store.com.

I always buy my bibles complete with covers. It also lets me buy a more inexpensive bible and the cover is what wears out..

well I've seen christian bibles with little leather zipper-y covers.... so probably not entirely an in-principle problem.

but christians aren't known for having a sense of humor about themselves, so something like that might be annoying in a "not taking it seriously enough and/or honoring it properly" sense.

my thought for you... do you think god would care?

it depends on whether the cover is risque` or not. Put thecover on thebible, it just means you want to take care of it. Would you carry a photo of your most loved relative around in your bare hand, orwould you keep it in a cover? same thing

There is nothing wrong with it. If people moan about it then they have far greater problems than you might think and they ought to be pitied.

Your wish to preserve and treasure your particular bible is your decision and nobody else's business. And I can guarantee you that God won't mind.
