It'll hurt until you go and get seen by a dentist. In the meantime, you can go and buy some orajel at a store. That may give you some TEMPORARY relief. You really need to go to a dentist and get it over with.

Sigh... I'm sincerely sad that you are that scared. If you live in New England, drop me an email and I can tell you the best places to go where dentists (like me!) really care...

Anyway, you can probably take 3-4 tabs of 200 mg ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs for some relief. Orajel might help, same w/ clove oil, but it'll just bring the pain from agonizing to semi-tolerable...You probably have an infection and will need an antibiotic, which you can only get from a medical professional of some sort. Maybe a nurse practitioner would be less intimidating?? That will decrease your symptoms in 24-48 hours.

However, the antibiotic will only buy you a few weeks. Eventually the infection will rise up again and you'll be back in pain. Before that happens, find a dentist. Ask everyone you know if they like theirs - is s/he caring, kind, compassionate, fair, etc. You'll eventually find an acquaintance who has that kind of dentist and you can visit them and solve your problem.

Whatever it is you're scared of can't be worse than what's happening now. And what's happening now COULD be worse - the infection could spread to other parts of your body and wear down your immune system, making you more prone to other illness.
If swelling gets really out of hand it could be life-threatening.

Good luck - I hope you find a good dentist!!

This is going to sound weird, but put some pieces of garlic in the hole and bite down. Garlic is an anti-pain and anti-inflammatory that can be used until you go to the dentist. There is also a strong medicine you can buy at Walgreens called Clove and it's excellent for toothaches. I used these two things when I broke my wisdom tooth last year and they were awesome.

Rinse your mouth with very cold water and/or put a bag of ice (or anything cold) on your cheek on the side of the painful tooth, this will eliminate the pain instantly.

Pain killers like Aspirin and Panadol are really effective as well.

Are you afraid of the dentist?? Fixing up a filling is no big deal........all the drilling and stuff has already been done.....they'll just refill it.
Please get it fixed up.......nobody should have to suffer through that these days. Most will do emergency repairs after hours. In the mean time,.all you can do is take pain relievers and try not to chew on that side of your mouth. Good luck

You got the same thing I had and I had to pay dearly for it. I chipped my tooth and then after a year, it was so bad and rotted the dentist had to do a root canal. If you think your tooth hurst now, wait till you get the root canal. Is no picnic, but if you wait longer then you might start to get infection which can lead to blood poison. So my advice to you, get a good dentist who will numb you up pretty good and go. Do not delay!

it really isimportant that you see someone for an antibiotic - once the infection gets into the root of your tooth - and it sounds like it has if your head and eye hurt - it causes poison-like to go through your system - this can (and most likely will lead) to an absess...which will be bloodpoisoning -i'm not trying to sound dramatic - but bloodpoisoning KILLS YOU!!! their are some really nice dentists who will respect you fear - i promise - and if you just want it out they'll pull it out - they might suggest you don't, but just say thaht's what you want -noproblem - i had that done last month and it was out in less than 2mins...and i recovered quickly - goodluck....

Take motrin or advil! But, no matter how scared you are you need to see a dentist they can probaly fix your prob. if you wait to long it might get serious and you may end up with alot more probs. then if you just went to the dentist now!

If it's a matter of money, go to the emergency room at a Christian Hospital.
