Yes by dictionary definition we are religious but we consider it so much more than just believing and having reverence for a deity. We consider ourselves bonded to God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit and by reading the Bible and fellowshipping we can have a strong relationship with God.

I'm not "religious" but I do believe and follow Jesus Christ and His teaching along with God's Holy Word.
I'm "religious" only in the aspect I'm classified as a "Christian"... which is a part of many denominational organizations.

If one then has a deep seated belief in a life concept one would
call it a religion if it were deity based, and a philosophy if it is not
deity based, is that what your saying?

not 'God believers' don't deny 'what' they are, but me being a Christ follower, i agree--i don't like saying that i'm 'religious'. when most people hear the word 'religious' we think of phoney people who say they're a Christian but only act it on sundays. i don't prefer the word 'christian' because of the negative sterotypes and the hypocrism that goes along with it. most people who claim to be Christian are not Christians at all. they think that doing good works will please God. but us being silly humans, we forget that God looks at the heart. man looks on the outside--but what does the opinion of men have to do with us?? i'd rather be pleasing to my heavenly father than to people on earth. so i say all this to say that it's more about RELATIONSHIP than RELIGION (religious) which is why Christians don't prefer being called 'religious'. hope this helped! :)

define relationship.
Christianity is a relatonship with God.
Christianity is the ONLY belief where God comes down to restore the relationship He desires.
All other religions are man made ideas how to get to "God."

so, then what is an agnostic who belongs to no organized religion? Or a Christian who technically is part of a religion, but questions the belief in God?

Because that word is taking on the same meaning as "cult". It has become derogatory in spite of its true meaning.
