Why did all of the ice in the previous ice ages melt BEFORE there was an age of industrialization? Hmm, now let me see...could it beeeeeeee...natural, non-human causes? Secondly, should that liberal lunatic Al Gore undergo mental therapy (or face a lawsuit) if the above is true and he is wrong? It really seems there's a pattern with him making ludicrous claims, even to the point of claiming to have "invented the Internet." And some of you actually believe in his far-fetched tales? You really don't have to answer all of these questions, but I'd really like to know about the ice ages. Thanks a bunch! :)

Preston - I agree with you about pollution - I despise pollution also. However, that is a different topic and has NOTHING to do with global warming. Please, stick to the point everyone, and let's get some answer here. What's the matter, liberals, has the cat gotten your tongue?

Wisdom Cube - true, people are not saying that it's all caused by humans, but they're nevertheless BLAMING the problem on humans, even though the same events are happening to day, as in the previous times before industrialization.

Hot Gold Digger. It's "irrelevant" only because I've just busted everyone!

Flash - you ask "what is going on?" What is going on is the same thing that went on when the ice ages got melted, and it doesn't have to do with the human factor, or Al Gore's nonsense.

Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly) very little response. The liberals know that it's strategically correct to remain silent, when their points are overcome and they can't resort to name-calling and insults.

There is no such thing as Global Warming. There is more pollution coming out of cows than from humans. So then should we eliminate all the cows because of that?? And doesn't electricity and batteries cause more energy and more pollution?? So why switch to electric cars and/or battery cars? Energy has got to come somewhere and eventually batteries will become trash. One last thing.....Global Warming if there is such a thing is cyclical. So quit it with this Liberal movement nonsense and go fill up your car with gas and go pay your electric bill. That's what I thought.

I don't know - but I live in the mountains on the east coast and it should be about 35 during the day. For the last week or two I have been able to go out with just a sweater and today short sleeves. So what is going on? Plus, we have had just a dusting of snow, usually we have snow from Dec.15 until the end of March.

No one is saying that all climate changes in all time periods in the entire history of earth are caused by humans. That would just be stupid. CO2 can be released into the atmosphere naturally by volcanoes and other things, and it's thought to increase temperatures (which then releases more CO2 through natural processes over time). So if humans are pumping excess CO2 into the air, and CO2 causes global temperatures to rise, then humans are responsible for at least part of this latest warming cycle.

I agree but then again my S.U.V. is causing the martian polar caps to recede also,I wish someone could explain that to me,maybe the sunspots have gone from the eleven year cycle and made it burn a little brighter?I mean after all that is the major heat source,so why are the martian polar ice caps melting away?

Past ice ages (and inter-glacial periods) were indeed caused by natural processes, primarily orbital forcing (aka Milankovitch cycles). Orbial forcing ended the current ice age about 11,000 years ago, and since about 6000 years ago, orbital forcing SHOULD be slowly cooling the planet, in the absence of anthropogenic causes.

The current warming trend is caused by human beings. There is no known natural cause.

No one has ever said global warming can't happen naturally.
However, whatever the cause of the past climate shifts was, it is irrelevant. THIS climate shift is being influenced by humans.

Regardless of whether humans are responsible for the latest global warming trends is irrelevant. We should still try to take better care of our environment.

Very good, Joe. You are right to the point but you aren't going to get a rational or scientific answer. Hyperbole and name calling is what you will get.
