How do you plan on ending religion, by war? Then you are just as bad as you say the religious are.

Terrorism is not always religiously motivated. Terrorism is usually motivated by desperation. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. What would have to happen to drive you to an act of terrorism. Likely is was something similar that drove another to it.
Frankly, the best weapon against terror is respect. Instead of removing religion, how about sitting down with the leaders in a non-threatening environment and talk to them as we would want to be talked to, if we were in their circumstances. I often think of the middle east as how america must have been in our revolutionary times. Many nations were interested in our land and our resources - and our position strategically. Same is true in the middle east - and like America, I think there are characterized as uncivilized (but then you see pictures of folks there, in the mall or in front of their house and you realize we are all the same).
The terrorists fear for their freedom and their way of life. That's what it would take for me to resort to terrorism. How about you?
Peace!

Terrorism is not always religiously motivated,There are both religiously notivated -the most pervasive (Islamic )- and politically ( Sri Lanka)or ideologically ( Maoists) The only solution to wipe out terrorism is peace! The steronger nations trying to impose its power on others, unnecessary interference in the internal matters,Playing Big brother, ethnic differences and religious funadmentalism.. but in all these people and nations forget that all human beings are equal and they have right to live just like you.You have no authority to take away someones life unless he threatens you.Let us live and let live.Long live peace...

In the northwest so-called "Eco-Terrorists" do things to protest the cutting of trees like driving metal spikes into the tree. Then when a logger goes to cut it down, it can snap the chain and maim or kill the logger. So terrorism isn't strictly an outcome of religion. Terrorism is an outcome of desperation, lack of intelligence, lack of morals, and poor character.

Could you demonstrate in some way that terrorism is always religiously motivated? From what I see, it has a lot more to do with poverty and political oppression than with religion.

It's not ALWAYS religiously motivated... sometimes it's politically motivated. However if there were no religion, i can bet you that there would be a HELL of a lot less terrorism.

Shalom Sinyckel,
Islam terrorism is motivated by a invisible man made God, the key isn't to remove religion because this will do more harm than you probably comprehend. But rather it's to make fundamentalists come to understand that their scriptures are allegorical not literal.

It's not always religiously motivated. Much of it can be political. The Oklahoma City bombing was carried out by a fringe right wing political type.

I believe it is every American's constitutional right to practice whatever religion he or she chooses...Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Judaism, Atheism, whatever. That's one of the great things about living here.
