The greed of government knows no limits, and has no ethics. If they see a cash cow and they can milk it without committing political suicide- they will.

Fair has got nothing to do with it. Good character would have, but only people have character and consciences, individually. Governments, corporations and institutions do not.

Social security is taxed only if you have other income above a certain limit - then up to 85% of the social security is taxed, depending on your other income. It includes all taxable income, not just that from a job.

Unemployment is taxed by the federal government.

They're taxed because the law says they are.

You are assuming that the money that is deducted is being set aside for you. It's not. The deductions are taxes and nothing more. So, when you apply for unemployment and/or social security BENEFITS, that is considered income and income is taxable.

Additionally, earned income and unearned income are both taxable.

If you had been employed, you would have paid tax on the income. Why should you get a tax break on income you didn't work to earn? Unemployment is not a savings account, its an insurance policy. I have never seen an 'unemployment' deduction on my pay statement anywhere I've worked. Is there one on your check?

you are right the goverment rapes their citzens. suggest we end all income tax, property tax - fees etc and only have a sales tax. The rich spend more than the poor so they will pay a bigger percent. To help the real poor - no sales tax on rent, unprepared food and clothing. This way everyone will know that the goverment rapes us and they will be forced to lower their expenses. Besides the goverment cause low pay by giving benefits to other country's like China.

Unemployment is federally taxed, but not by the states. I thought Social Security was exempt unless you had significant outside income from a job.
