Religion is a way of life based on a belief. People are religious because: they feel a need to connect, they feel a deep moral responsibility, or it's just been their way of life and they just continue it. What ever you might think, following God, or whatever you might call him, religion is a way of life set up to follow his teachings.
- Religion #1 cause of Terrorism? Wrong I could list Pride, Greed followed out by extremist as #1.
- Trying to figure out whether something is right or wrong? Come on! We all know what is morally right or wrong we just choose to hide those feeling to justify our actions till our heart has hardened itself to any such feeling.
-Scaring little children with "end of the world"? I can't say what everyone does but the end of the world never scared me. Live life as God teaches, to the best of your ability, and you have nothing to fear. You can't say it's false without any proof.
- Jesus not divine? Your belief is your own. Jesus is Divine and the son of a Living God.
- No God? Science hasn't proven anything, with respect to God. Science "claims" a big bang theory, also "claiming" evolution. What I don't understand is that if evolution is taking place, or had taken place, then how come we don't have half humans and monkeys or half humans and fish?
-Threatening to kill atheists? I don't know how many times you've been threatened, or even if it ever existed, but I've never seen it nor done it.
-Officials and Priests abusing people? I know it has happened in many organizations and churches but does that mean an atheist has never abused anyone? These are people with poor judgment and should not be in those positions in which they hold. Plus that is not why people are religious.
-World in Turmoil? Sure the world isn't heaven. We are given our free agency to grow and make decisions. To be acted upon and to be tested on how we would react. If God were to control everything then we would be his puppets. Not learning, not growing with no purpose to this life.
-Being religious not fun? I love it. I'm not perfect and will never say I am. But in trying I feel better. By not doing the things which I am taught not to do then I don't get trapped with vices that weigh me down and dramatically effect my life, such as: unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, caught up in gang fights, drugged out, and thrown in jail. Doing wrong might give you some joy for now but it's not a lasting joy. Joy lasts! Rules and commandments are like strings of a kite. You can fly for a while with out them, but if you don't want to fall and be in control, then you need the strings. A lot of it is what is called self discipline, it's what makes you strong and helps you grow as a person.
- Church boring? Of course it is if you have no interest in it. If you had not interest in baseball then I'm sure a baseball game would be boring.
It's hard to understand where you are coming from and where you got your view. I did not live the life you lived. Thinking all religions are the same is ignorant and small minded. It doesn't seem that you have even tried to study any religion and would rather look down on something because what someone believes is in contrary to what you do and how you live your life. Live your life how you want, that is a gift from god and this country, I just only hope you are truly happy in the decisions you make, whatever they might be.

Answer: Religion (a way of life) is how you live your life. It usually is an outgrowth of what you believe.

Details: 1. Men cause worldwide terrorism. Men who start it and men who fail to stop it.
2. People drive themselves crazy for all sort of reason.
3. Unless I got something wrong, this world has a beginning and it will have an end.
4. You have absolute no idea who Jesus was, let alone if he is divine.
5. You not believing in a God does not make it so. God comes to us by revelation; science comes to us by men's observation.
6. As a priest, I do not threaten to kill anyone. Atheists (without God) have heard the message, and rejected. That is what they believe.
7. Child abusers are exactly that; there are no more child abusers that are priest than anyone else. You will find child abuser everywhere. Sad, but true.
8. God created and gave this world to man. Man is in turmoil.
9. Religion makes no claim about this life. It is focus on the next.
10. Find another church that is less boring.

So much for details. What you believe is yours. It defines you. It places you on a path. Religion is there to help you on your path. So quite blame God for the world around you and start living your life. If you need help, read the book.

1) Things like worldwide terrorism are (in my religion) said to be caused by the devil
2) In some circumstances yes, they do but most religious people are very free and happy you just aren't looking to the right ones
3) Lot's of people do this, not just religious, and again you're not looking to the right religious figures
4) Jesus was a real person and there aren't any myths around ordinary people, only extraordinary
5) Of course they are! They can't prove something they can't see to be real. No one can, but that's why it's called faith.
6)If someone threatened to kill someone else (without guilt), they are not a child of God
7)???
8) People and the devil is my guess
9) It's not a strict book and it is happy. The Bible is a guide but just as no one can prove God real, you can't prove the Bible is a real guide (as far as I know) and also it does say don't do things like kill or commit adultery but it also expresses love and says you're always forgivable.
10) I have never been to a church but my mom says the same thing so if you feel that way then don't go!

ok where have you been? the only religion that has caused fighting is the stupid shites and sunites or muslim Christianity does not
God is not a myth think about it! why was everything here? it just was is not good enough and since we cant remove matter how did it exist in the first place. Catholic priests should be allowed to have sex I stress that so much because i mean if your having sex your having sex and it doesnt matter what. Religous people dislike atheists becausse they threaten us also and are ruining the world living on unmoral ethics, Guess what! God does things for strange reasons and if you want him to let him kill us all and start anew but rainbows say that he will not flood the earth again. and when have i gone crazy figuring if i was doing bad or good? i am bad andi am good and God forgives but that gives me no reason to be bad. Jesus was divine and guess what? living by the bible is a good life because you never will get accused of hurting others, killing people, losing people you love, abusing those you love, making other peoples live miserable and hating people for no reason. Church is happy because my Pastor rules
id like to give a shout out to my man Pastor Paul because he makes my life better
and eventually the world will end i know but guess what? because of atheists we dont live as long as way back then like moses and Noah.
i think thats all ok so change Religion is made to make your life better and Christianity is the right one

You are focused on just one religion.
-Buddhism does not tell people to go and kill others for their beliefs. In fact, one of the teachings, if I remember correctly, is that "All Gods are one God."
-Satanism has a simple moral code. It's the one that lies in your heart. No use trying to decide what's good or bad in the eyes of God, for you are your God.
-Many religions around the world don't speak of the end.
-Only Christianity is really worried about Yeshua's divinity.
-Many scientists also can prove God exists. Just think of the probablility that life would work. Out of the 115 or so elements that we have discovered, how did the right ones come to create organic compounds, including really complex ones such as DNA and RNA. If God doesn't exist, then we were really lucky.
-Wicca teaches to "live and let live." Not everyone is that concerned about athiests.
-While many priests have abused children, not all of them do. A majority try to teach kids about their religion and about life.
-Turmoil is necessary. Many religious groups teach of a Yin-Yang philosophy. Some bad things must happen so we can learn from them and can better appreciate the good.
-Having a good life and a fun life are not the same thing. A good life means about moral ethics. Fun is... fun! But it's all about finding what religion is most like your beliefs.
-It's not about being fun. You seem to think that it should all be Comedy Central. And while there is room to have fun, room that many people don't utilize, most of the time it's so you can have a better religious experience. It's not about entertainment, but instead is about being closer to The One.

It's quite a stretch to say that religion is the cause of terrorism. It is religious (or other) extremists who are the problem, not peacable religious people.

I will agree that some horrid things have been done in the name of one religion or another but just as our government does not always represent our views with its actions, neither do religious zealots represent all people of religion.

As for whether or not there is a God, I think that question will remain unanswered. Those who believe will not accept a scientist's word that there is no God any more than those who do not believe will accept a religious person's word.

Believe or don't believe - it's surely your choice.

I read your statement and was quite touched with your genuine concern for the world and all the suffering in it. There is a belief
in the world that has been here for a very long time and offers a
real and lasting hope for the cessation of suffering and pain worldwide, without all the threats and fear tactics. A belief based
on facts being facts because they are real, provable, logical and
scientifically sound. A belief that teaches that one should always objectively seek truth and understanding from within ones self
and not from an extraneous and unproven God concept.
Please for the sake of curiosity check out any real net site on
Buddhism and just check it out and see if I lie.

There are many reasons why people are religious, mostly it is part of upbringing. Religion has always been a way for parents to help teach their children "right" from "wrong".

Religion also provides a major framework for charity. The religions of yesterday and today helped the impoverished, orphaned, crippled, and insane. People that wouldn't be welcome in the general society.

Unfortunately, the more radical religions are sensationalized and the media only reports this sensationalism regarding "end of times" "jihad" and "schism". I would also state that it is not the #1 reason for terrorism - political and ethnic strife also play a role.

You have to take the good with the bad unfortunately.

Money is the root cause of terrorism, not religion. Don't be so superficial.
What people believe or don't believe is really none of your concern. What do you care what they believe?
A lot of people have abused kids, and guess what.... some were athiests. Does this reflect on ALL athiests?
How is living according to scripture fun? Are you a child?
Church is boring? Are you a child?

Grow up, do something better with your time, and leave people to believe what they want to.
