The only time that the brake booster would be known to be bad is if the brake pedal is really hard to push. So you say that you have no pressure. Any time you have no pressure, it will be a leak SOMEWHERE in the brake system. The master cylinder will hold fluid sometimes even when it is bad. If the check valve between the two cylinders of the master cylinder is bad, the fluid will bypass from one side of the resovoir to the other and it will look like the master cylinder is holding fluid (and technically it is), yet still cause a problem with the brakes. If you have leaks they could be at the calipers or the rear brake cylinders. It could also be a rusted out metal brake line or a cut or hole in one of the rubber lines. Start first by checking for signs of leaks, such as wetness on the inside of a tire. If it is on a front tire, most likely it is a caliper leaking, or maybe a brake hose. If it is on one of the back tires, most likely it is the brake cylinder for that side. If it ends up being one of the rear brake cylinders leaking, figure on eventually replacing both sides. The reason is that since both are probably the same age, when you get one to hold pressure good, that puts more pressure on the other one and causes it to finish going out. So if you see no visible leaks, try bleeding the brakes. This may take awhile if there is a lot of air in the lines. And be sure that you keep the master cylinder filled up while you are bleeding the brakes or you will just have more air in the system and have to do it all over again. No air in the system? Then most likely it is the master cylinder bypassing itself, unless you can see signs of where fluid has been leaking and running down the brake booster. So, to make a long story short, 3 things: 1.Look for leaks. 2.Bleed brakes. 3.Replace master cylinder.

I agree, if no recent brake work then power booster likely failed, that is the big round thing that the master cylinder is attached too.

i for my area would not purchase it yet once you're basically driving some miles an afternoon and in case you leave the motor inventory(no chip, not something) then you definately might desire to be only nice. the subjects that maximum human beings communicate approximately is whilst they attempt to get greater ability and the motor only wasnt designed for one and all of those aftermarket upload-ons. If it have been me i might nevertheless do all the reccommended advancements for the motor regardless of if i did not positioned a chip in it or something. Take that $12,500 and circulate purchase an older super duty with the 7.3L and additionally you heavily isn't enable down, EVER! i might purchase a ninety 9-03 super duty with the 7.3L regardless of if it had 500,000 thousand miles if i might desire to get the historic previous on the way it became pushed, the place it became pushed and all that.

master cylinder is bad if petal goes to floor. But if you let the master cylinder run dry and only filled it up then all you have to do is bleed the system. power booster only makes it easier to press the petal.
