I just don't enjoy the things that i used to enjoy anymore, like listening to music, playing guitar.... everything is so damn boring since i quit drinking (a month ago).. I guess i've lost the Passion for life.... or perhaps, I never had it.

What I think you've been doing is masking a depression, and its purpose was always to force an evaluation and resolution of what in your life wasn't working. It slows you down so you can see this.

It sounds look you're simply entering a new phase in your life after drinking. Maybe you enjoyed a few drinks now life seems boring without the booze? Maybe you put too much emphasis on having fun through drinking and now it's time to enjoy the things you enjoy, like music, for the music, for what they are.

The alcohol is probably a big loss now and maybe nothing seems to be filling the gap now it's not in your life. But you now need to start enjoying the things you enjoy for what they are, without it having to be enjoyed with alcohol.

Alcohol recovery will put your body & mind through many different f'd up places.

Alcohol can change the "Dopamine" levels in your brain. "Dopamine" is a primitive part of your brain, which responds to stuff like sex, tobacco, alcohol, and cocaine. What you call "Passion" is a false buzz on your "Dopamine" levels.

When ppl are "Addicted" to something like alcohol, then the increase Dopamine buzzes when you get it. However, you're damaging the happiness that your brain produces. Eventually, you need more to get the same happy level ... then more ... then more.

You are going through withdrawals now. During this time, it will take premeditated effort to find happiness. It is good to force yourself to smile and laugh during this recovery. Try sitting in front of a mirror and just laughing like you're an actor trying out for a big movie part.

Eventually, you will find the natural way to produce "Dopamine" ... luckily, u weren’t a "Crack" addict ... some of them permanently damage this glad produced by the brain, and it can take decades to recover.

Remember, as an addict, it's important to find ways to resist temptation. One, lapse, and within 4 days, you'll be back at the same level of alcohol consumption to achieve happiness. Happiness is far more enjoyable when you've got control --- so keep your control.

I don't think you have found your passion yet.

Drinking might have influenced you into believing you had found it, kind of like a mirage. You just need to push everything else aside and do some soul searching. Figure out what makes you happy and pursue it to the fullest!

Also, I'm proud of you for cleaning up your drinking. It's a tough thing to do but it builds character. My grandfather was an alcaholic and he died from it.

Keep looking for what makes you happy! Whatever it is, it's out there somewhere looking for you too. Hold your head high.

Your drinking might have been a way for you to self medicate for depression.
Your symptoms have all the hallmarks of major depression. Please see a mental health professional. There are medications and therapy out there to get you over this hump and enjoy life again.
Congratulations on kicking the drinking habit. Keep up the good work!!

give it time - it'sfunny, but fromersonalexperience...i think i know what you're going through -playing and listening to music was an escape while drinking before..the drinking gave you a sence of relaxation - but i'm guessing that you gave updrinking for a reason - as i did when i found i was becoming "addicted" to my substance - and it took a fwew months to find feelings of enjoyment...to be a ble to relax...i hear you and feel for you - but hope you you can trust me (even somewhere in the back of your head) and know htat quitting drinking will be a reward and that music and whatever else will find a sence of escape - and new found enjoyment...good luck-i hope you find it soon!!!

No, your body is working hard to clean itself up after years of poisoning yourself with excessive amounts of alcohol. That takes a lot of energy and time. Try exercising and work on your diet. Drink tons of water. You will feel better.
