I bought her a new dress, panty hose/tights etc. Does she wear both underpants and the tights, or just the tights? If both, which one goes on first?

Underpants then tights.
I just think it is cool that noone is upset about your age as a father. I have a 19 month old and 8 week old baby, and Daddy is 60. Over here, (Brisbane, Australia), we seem to get dirty looks when we go out together as a family. People must be more tolerant of these things where you come from. I think i'll move.

yes the underpants go on first then the tights.
Remember that a 5 year old needs a lot of sleep so if it is an evening affair youshould be on your way home by 7 at the very latest.

It's more sanitary for her to wear panties and also tights are thick, but not that thick...a 5 yr. old doesn't know how to "sit like a lady" yet...
The panties go on first, tights over them.

Underwear then tights! Make sure you put her hair up nice and wash her face. Also pretty little shoes to go with her dress.
Have fun and make sure when she gets tired thats when it is time to go home and get her to sleep!
