American politicians don't care about its citizens or other people, they only care about themselves. The Government is nothing more then another business, the people under them their workers. They do what they need to to shut people up and then make the rest of their decisions based on financial gain for themselves and their rich civilian partners.

The tax payers of America have been handed a $9 trillion national debt over the next ten years by Republicans. The Iraq war will cost working class tax payers $2 trillion. We will spend $498 billion on defense in 2007 plus what Iraq will cost. We have 44 million Americans with no basic Health Insurance, half that number are women and children. We can do better for American tax payers, we passed the "pay as you go" in Congress today. The minimum wage increase will be in the Senate Monday, $7.35 per hour. Democrats should take from defense spending in 2007 and pay for affordable Health Care. They should remove every dime spent in Iraq from 2007 defense spending.

We already set up systems to help the less fortunate It's called taxes. What the problem is, if you only have 5 cookies on the plate and there are 6 people, someone isn't getting a cookie.Unless you start breaking cookies,it's called charities and there are a lot of good people doing good deeds for this cause. And we do care about the world around us.There is so many people who need help, but you can only wait for the passage of time to heal.

What is the evidence that "America" doesn't "care about is poor" ? That is, what does "America" need to do in order to show that "it" DOES "care about its poor" ? Spend more money on poverty-fighting programs? How much compassion does it take to spend other people's money?

americas action in other countries is a mix of two things...the responsibility as the world power to help others, and the selfish desire for wealth and domination. a lot of times the later will attempt to be excused by claiming it was really the first one.

again, there is a bit of a moral obligation to help floundering countries while we stand waist-deep in luxury (compared to much of the rest of the world), but there is even more of a duty to serve the needs of the people at home too...i think its time to put a policiy of isolationism into affect. not complete isolation, mind you, but enough that the US can get its problems sorted out before we try "helping" others

OK Lance put up or shut up. How much did you give to charity last year. The average American gives about $1620 per year. So since you brought it up how much did YOU donate? Don't give me government this and government that cause that is not freely given and does not reflect what is in your heart. I want to know how you rate against the average American

If you examine the other answers to your question you will see an
answer that says that the poor of America are a product of their own laziness.Your question is valid and people who give answers like that are copping out.Instead of answering questions like yours
in a constructive manner they indulge in abuse.
To be quite frank they don't do that much for the overseas poor
either.
