Loving someone is caring about them a lot, like friends or family. Being in love with someone is when you want be romantic with someone and be with them forever, all that mushy stuff....
example: you would not be in love with your mother, but you would love her...

I am 42 and I just recently learned myself. When you love someone, you care a great deal for them, you worry and you miss them too. Love or should I say In love is totally different. Your almost obsessed, excited feeling. You feel incredible, you almost never stop thinking about him or her.

...I believe loving someone has more to do with caring, enjoying their company...wanting the best for that person...
Being in love I feel is a deeper intimate emotion... an almost possessive emotion which leads to passion. ...the thing about being in love it can cloud good judgement if one is not careful.
...sometimes it takes other loved ones to help us see clearly ....always be careful, and consider sound advice.

its hard to know. being in love is when your are in a infatuation phase that everything is beautiful and wonderful....etc. loving someone is accepting their faults, not necessarly knowing everything about them but having trust, growing with that person and knowing that love changes as you grow, not just having a feeling inside but with your actions and taking time with them to make your relationship stronger.

When you love someone that is like you feel towards your Mom,Dad,or siblings.They are important in your life.But when you are in love with someone they occupy your thoughts,interests,body,& mind.You focus your life around them and their happiness----with you in their life,together with them...A COUPLE.
