this is a easy one.... you simpy need to crate train your baby.. it is easy , rewarding and the right thing to do,,, many hotels allow crate trained dogs, your dog will be safe and not getting into mischief when you are away... the pup , instinctually will not go in its crate good luck,,, also you can restrict his water after 6pm and put him out for last pee as late as you can.. and put him outside as early as you can,, it won't take long for him to understand what you want from him,,.,, GET A CRATE

First off realize, a six month old puppy generally can only hold for about 6 hours..so if you're finding a puddle it's cause you left the dog inside for too long. Also, remove water access from the dog a few hours before sleeping so it can void prior to going to bed.

And does the dog have to stay in the kitchen...it probably signaled it needed to be let out but if no human was around..no one did..try letting the puppy sleep in a crate (crate training is always recommended) so if the puppy whimpers or scratches it needs to be let out, someone will hear it.

A regular schedule for the puppy helps alot. Everytime you go to take the dog out, say the pups name and say outside. If you get the pup on a regualr schedule, and the pup will start to realize that business is suppose to be done outside. THis might take a couple months, the sooner you start it the faster you pup will learn. By a year old no more accidents should be happening.

If you don’t have a doggy door you need one. If you do have the door then put him in a dog cage and back it up to the door. That way he can only go outside at night until he gets in the habit. The old fashioned way is to take and put his nose up to the mess and smack him on the nose with a paper and tell him you are really mad about this. Next soak up the mess in a paper towel and go outside where you want him to go. Place the paper with the scent where you want him to go and then pet and praise him in the correct place. He'll get the idea real soon. Make sure you completely clean the area and remove his scent.
