My family wants to go to Daytona Beach for a week over April vacation. By that time, me and my boyfriend will have been dating for 11 months. My parents say that he shouldn't come with us, and I should just bring a friend. But it would be so much more enjoyable if I could bring him. What could I tell my parents to get them to agree and be okay with him coming with us?

My family wants to go to Daytona Beach for a week over April vacation. By that time, me and my boyfriend will have been dating for 11 months. I'll almost be 17 by then. My parents say that he shouldn't come with us, and I should just bring a friend. But it would be so much more enjoyable if I could bring him. What could I tell my parents to get them to agree and be okay with him coming with us?

I do believe he should be able to go. I think this would be a great bonding experience and I think it would also be a great opportunity for your family to get to know him better. You don't state your age but no matter your age I think that if your boyfriend goes he should sleep in a separate room, to show respect to your family. I am not sure why they wouldn't want him to go, you would be spending most of the time with them anyways. Besides...if they think that you both will be behaving badly then its not logic either because you can also behave badly in town, you don't need to be on vacation to behave badly.

I dunno. Really depends on how old ya are. I used to let my son bring his girl along - but not until he was an older teen - senior year of hs and in his college years.

If you are (truly) old enough to have a serious boyfriend (I say must be at LEAST 16 for that) then I would think your parents would let him come along without too much persuading by you as long as they really like him and that you two have never given them any grief.

Just let them know you two will be in by the time they say you must be in - guaranteed and there won't be ANY problems or fighting between you two either causing a sourse of stress to the rest on vacation. Without knowing all the circumstances - it's really hard to answer this - but - in general..I think they should let him come along.

I dont know your age but if your family would prefer you to bring a friend "female" than thats what you should do. If you feel your boyfriend should come along then you should join him when his family goes on vacation.
