Dude, get over it already:

1. Muslims were among those who died in the 9/11 calamity. Only Jews were not there.

2. Islam-spread-by-the-sword crap has been dismissed by majority of historians, be it Orientalists or Muslims. Study the history dude.

3. Muslims invade other countries? The last time I checked, America, you know, the invader of Iraq, was not a Muslim country.

4. Muslims dont force Islam on non-Muslims since we know that God has said in the holy Quran that none can believe except by His permission. So, it's futile and stupid to even try to impose our religion on others.

5. And Hitler was not a Muslim. I wonder why Muslims never associate Hitler with his religion. I wonder why...

There is a reason why interpretation of the holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah (prophetic traditions) is an affair dearer to the hearts of Muslims than anything else, but an affair feared by many. It is dearer because Muslims find joy, peace and comfort in both reciting and gaining as much knowledge and understanding of the holy Quran as possible.

Nonetheless, it is feared as without proper understanding of the science of interpretation (exegesis), one can be easily led astray, hence many and I mean many schools of thoughts condemned as heresy by prominent leading scholars since the early ages of Islam. Even these prominent scholars of Islam have taken great precautions and expressed their concern in the affairs of the Sacred Law (holy Quran and Sunnah), keeping in mind how overwhelming the task could be, as told in their biographies. This is reasonable enough as the holy Quran is first and foremost the words of God, the only thing in the world which is close to being divine.

Having said that, it is of utmost importance to realise that as people possess different capacity, interpreting the holy Quran is not a task for everyone. Therefore, for an incapable person to quote the holy Quran literally and use it to justify the killing of innocents in the name of God is totally unislamic, utterly blasphemous, and a sin so grave that it would strike terror in the hearts of rational Muslims everywhere, hence the vast condemnation and alienation of terrorist groups with the likes of al-Qaeda by the Muslim World for instance. Enough to say, the affairs of Quranic exegesis is a virtue so virtuous that those who are blessed with the capability to do so (one of them being the famous classical thinker, Imam Ibnu Kathir with his masterpiece - Tafseer Ibn Kathir - Exegesis of Ibn Kathir - widely read by Muslims worldwide) would earn saintly respect from ordinary Muslims while the misundertaking of such venture by the incapable would cause them terrible loss, humiliation and chastisement.

I'm only 19 years old, thus, I can't elaborate extensively on this matter due to my lack of knowledge. Kindly refer to the reliable links given below for more information.

And finally, I would like to urge you to focus your utmost attention on the following verse (translation) of the holy Quran:

003.007: "He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except God. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding."

Carefully reread it for a few times. I'm sure in the end you'll be able to fathom why there are different interpretations - sometimes with not much difference while sometimes with marked difference.

Visit www.tafsir.com for an authoritative exegesis (interpretation) of the holy Quran, based on the works of one of Sunni Islam's most respected scholar - Imam Ibnu Kathir (may God be pleased with him)

And God alone knows best.

Peace and Love.

You mean 'Bin Laden'. Some say it's an inside job and what's publicly accepted is that a terrorist organisation 'Al Qaeda', led by Bin Laden, planned the attack. I guess we'll never know the truth, but to answer your question. Islam is a religion of peace, and throughout the Muslim world a lot of clerics and 'leaders' manipulate the true words of the 'Quran' (which is the Holy Book for Muslims) and preach what they think the Quran says.

Terrorists believe that they are working under God's will. Ironically the Quran says to preserve human life. Even when Muslims kill an animal to eat it, they pray for it and thank God that they can take it's life for them to survive.

Islam was spread by the sword, true, but we seem to forget about other things. For example, The Spanish Inquisition or the Crusades. But what people do, does not define the religion. People are stupid and always take things from one extreme to the other.

A lot of people are mislead about Islam. I am still ignorant about a lot of things in the Quran, and I'd like to learn, but there's only so little people you can trust to teach you the correct meaning, especially because it is written in a manner which leaves you to interpret it in your own way. But yes, Islam is a peaceful religion.

By the way I'm Christian. So maybe a Muslim would answer this question better. I'm very interested in this topic so just e-mail if you have any other questions.

Bin Laden and his mob of Terrorists are CRIMINALS. (Religious Verdict by the Scholars of Saudi Arabia)

If you even knew anything about history, and how the conquests took place, you would see why hundreds of millions of people converted to Islam based on how the conquerors treated them. And if they didn't they were still allowed to practice their religion. They only had to pay a protection tax, and the rulers would protect them as well. There are many Christian Arabs.....

What army marched into Indonesia (the country with the most Muslims)....

Do you think it is fair to judge 1 500 000 000 people, for perspective every American x5 in the world by the actions of a few?

Do you think its fair to take the KKK (crazy, radical Christians) and then say that this is what Christianity is about?

Please, read the Qu'ran for yourself, to understand what Islam is. Not 10 verses out of context, of the 6666 in the Qu'ran.

May God guide you to the straight path.

You are only looking at one aspect of the reasons behind 9/11. Yes, Bin Laden's particular interpretation of Islam had something to do with it, but do you not wonder if the reasons may just possibly also be related to America? I mean, why the world trade centre and not the Eiffel tower? Why does Bin Laden only attack America and its allies, and not say, Sri Lanka or the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Argentina?

The koran and the hadiths spread the word of piece. Nowhere in the koran does it say blow your enemies up. nor does it say die in the name of islam. jihad does not mean holy war, and the word has been messed up so many times by the media. jihad means to strive to be a better muslim.

i ask you does the bible say kill your enemy? does it also say declare war in the name of Christianity?

and i am not willing to believe that bin laden blew up th wtc or the pentagon.

If that was to true then how come they have not capture him? where is he now?

look at the sites below, even if you don't change your view of islam, just have a look and read with an open mind. because just as there are bad people in christianity, judaism, hinduism. dont insult islam by saying it isn't the religion of piece. and feelings will be hurt if you don't choose your words wisely. im am not looking to convert you to islam either. so please dont be so negative about the islam, it is the religion of piece. you just need to know about islam to know it does not incite voilence, or hatred.

thank you for your time.

First of all, we don't really know if Osama Bin Laden was truly behind this act of violence. All we know is what the media tells us. The media has been known to be wrong on occasion, due to false information or outright lies from the govt.
As for Islam spreading their religion by force, this is nothing new. Christianity did the same thing throughout Europe and the Americas. Forced conversion is what made these religions what they are today.
Keep your mind open and read between the lines. Don't just accept what the media says without questioning it.

Uh... Ok. Your question draws a perfect parallel to the Cruisades, the KKK and other acts of Christian violence against other cultures. Most people would say that Cruisaders and David Duke just did not follow the Bible in the way that it was intended. (also look at our president and ask yourself the same question)

Islam is a religion of peace, people are just prone to interpret it in a violent way because they are in a culture that fuels strict interpretations of the Quran.

You're use of logic is extremely flawed.

I think he did it because he was mad at the people who were spelling his name incorrectly all the time. Bin Laden is an evil genious, much along the lines of Hitler.

I am a Christian, but I want to believe that Islam is the religion of peace.

Islam isn't peaceful; in fact it isn't really a religion at all. Islam promotes genocide, oppression, extortion, terror, bloodshed, robbery, rape, murder, deceit, prejudice, intolerance, violence, hypocrisy, and hatred. The true God--the God of love, peace, and mercy--has no use for such tactics.

The Quran was not given to us by God. It was written by one man, a scheming, murdering, thieving, robbing child-rapist named Muhammad. Islam, by his commands, has historically been spread and maintained ONLY by the lie, the threat, the sword, the gun, and the bomb, never by peaceful missionary work. Muslims have always reveled in bloodshed and celebrated the suffering of others, yet they are always trying to deny and conceal their gruesome history.

Muhammad was no "prophet"--a murderous beast who talks a lot about God is still nothing more than a murderous beast. Likewise, the so-called "religion" he invented, Islam, is nothing more than a program for establishing and maintaining a brutal totalitarian government.
