He's not really serious about the guy being gay. This is a way of saying that he thinks you're extremely atttractive physically, probably a ten or higher if possible.
He laughed because (1) you didn't get his drift and (2) he didn't believe there was any way possible that a guy couldn't be attracted to you (unless he was gay)!

Gay if they didn't check you out means he checked you out and thought you were attractive. The guy who said it is attracted to you and can't express it other than making light of it by putting on some macho bs homophobic putdown. Besides, a gay guy might be more apt to check you out because your appearance. Who's to say. I think its an uncomfortable attempt at a cover.

It may mean that he knows for fact that this dude is gay or your friend don't think that you are attractive. Either way no it don't mean that a guy is gay if he don't check you out.You just may not be his type

He sounds like a moron. You are right in your assumption until proven otherwise. Not all guys are pigs and "check out" girls. Boys like to call each other gay, left, right, and center these days. It's their way of feeling macho or powerful but really it's stupid and immature.
I feel sorry for you kids today, no sense of self whatsoever.
