Ask one of them what color your shirt is. If the person lies then ask theother one which way you need to go. If the person tells you the right shirt color, ask the other one which way to go and go the opposite way.

Assuming the name of the town you live in is Riverdale, you would ask one of them, "If I asked you if this road (pointing to , say, the right-hand road) leads to Riverdale, would you say yes?
If you ask the truth-teller, and the road does lead to Riverdale, he would say yes. If it didn't, he would say no.
If you ask the liar, it is more complicated. If the road does lead to Riverdale, and you asked him if it leads to Riverdale, he would say no. So when you ask him if he would say yes, and he would actually have said no, he has to lie, so he says yes.
Similarly, if you ask about the other road, he would have said yes if it did not lead to Riverdale, and so he would have to lie and say no.
