There's nothing wrong with having friends of opposite sex, but by chatting to someone online you might be opening a door for temptation. When you talk to someone online, they might seem like they know exactly what you're going through and you will bond with them overtime. Which again wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if you could be just friends, but you can just see it down the road, one of you gets mad at your significant other, decides to explore things, and everyone ends up regretting it down the road.
If you think he might be a good friend material and you don't think you guys are flirting, etc, then I'd tell him that you want to stay friends with him, but you don't want to keep secrets from your boyfriend, so you will allow your boyfriend to read your e-mails, so he knows there's nothing to worry about. This way this guy will know that you are not going to try to flirt with him and that the only thing he can get out of this is being friends with you. If he continues talking to you after that, then it's cool. Also, you should tell your boyfriend that you're chatting with someone you think is cool online, but it's totally harmless and he's welcome to read your conversations any time. If you keep this a secret and he finds out later, even if it was totally innocent, it'll be a big issue.

he's an alcoholic who would not care adequate approximately you to keep in mind what you have suggested; rather, he'd somewhat drink his beer and be a widespread loser. heavily, in case you're forty years previous and don't have a lot of a existence previous reliving your college days (or severe college days), you extremely might desire to head to AA. As a 23 12 months previous lady, i wish you outgrow this guy and finally end up somebody somewhat extra delivered on. His issues are self-created, and there is not something you're able to do to get him to cease. Like I suggested, at forty years previous, I doubt he cares.

If you feel guilty while chatting to this man then there is something wrong, especially if you didn't want your b-friend to see whom your chatting to. Your the only one that knows if you are being platonic or something else.

Yes. anything you do with another man (over the internet or phone or whatever) that you wouldn't do with your hubby standing beside you is cheating. don't get involved with someone else, it only confuses things.

Just don't take it any further than you have. Consider it a real close friendship. But also be cautious, it is after all the Internet.
