no, i did not say either was a REAL grilled cheese. i think there are many variations of grilled cheese, just like anything else. you said if i used oil in the pan, it wasn't a real grilled cheese. so is it fake then? i agree with these answers that butter is better, but its not the only way.

Grilled cheese made with the bread buttered on the inside AND the outside tastes best, but it does make for a high calorie sandwich.

Definitely buttered but u could wipe your pan down first with some oil and have the best of both worlds

Well I don't want any of your boyfriends grilled cheese sandwiches. Its butter dear and its best with Velveeta Cheese.

buttered bread and real american cheese . I put a lid on it after flipping. It helps the cheese melt through.

Oil is an abomination!

A real grilled cheese to me would be to use VELVETTA cheese, it melts better and tastes good.
