About a week ago I noticed my son has cut his 7th and 8th tooth, he has gotten 4 teeth in the past month. Whenever he goes through teething, he has gotten a bad rash, a high fever, and diaper rash....but I dont know that this is what it is. I mean, he's teething and I thought it was at first, but it's not going away! He seems fine and he's very happy but this rash on his face is breaking my heart! It's red and it looks like little pimples all over his face. I almost want to say it looks like heat rash or something. I give him bath's twice a day and I always keep him clean. I dont know what to do! Does anyone have any suggestions for me? And please be nice, people have a tendency to be a little judgemental here.....

I had no idea that giving him 2 baths a day would make it worse! I'm sure you can tell I'm a new mom.....I feel so bad!

Getting a rash is very common when babies are teething, and on babies in general!!! My youngest daughter kept baby acne when she was little!!! It was soooo ugly and looked like white heads all over her face, I actually remember taking her to have pictures made and a young ignorant woman said to me "why don't you come back when this goes away!!!" I was soooo mad how dare that woman tell me when to have pictures made!!!Though pediatricians may tell you different, I learned to go with my gut with my 4 children. It never failed my children would get a rash while teething and, I knew it had to be the teething. Also, while teething babies slober and the slober tends to cause rashes too!!! Another thing, this time of year babies tend to get wind burnt real easy. If the skin looks almost rashy but, dry and chapped it could be the wind and crazy winter weather too.. There really is nothing you can do for the rash for teething but, let it run its course!! If you think the baby's face could be chapped a little Vaseline works wonders!!! Good Luck !! HOPE I HELPED YOU!!!

The face rash could possibly dry skin (eczema) from drooling. If the fever is low it's probably just from the teeth. The diaper rash is also most likely due to the teething - more saliva production may create looser and more frequent stools which leads to diaper rash. One of my boys suffered from eczema on his face up until he was 2 yrs (due to drooling while teething and dry air in winter), and my other son always ends up with diaper rash when a new tooth comes in. I've found some great products for treating the face and bottom: Eucerin cream or Baby Aquafor for the face and Calmoseptine on the bum (usually over the counter, non prescription). My guess is that the 2/day baths may be making the rashes worse because it dries the skin out. Try every other day bathing, especially if the winter air is particularly dry where you are.

The fever is mostly caused by the teething. My children both had rashes while teething, due to slobber. It's chapped skin and i know how hard it is to keep that area dry. Try using a diaper cream or petroleum jelly. Greatest of luck.

i am not sure if you need to bath him 2 a day.. i am sure he is very clean, but it sound like just a simple teething rash... my children have very sensitive skin, so they used to get red cheeked and rashy when they got teeth... a little tylenol and maybe not so many baths! :-) and i think he will be fine... and also call the docs if you are really concerned

Not sure, but if you press a glass to one of the spots and it DOESN'T disappear then you need to go to the hospital straight away.
