I am curious to know how many military veterans are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. Please list references and websites to get data. Thank you.

I'm sure you can find info on this on the Veterans Administration website. I work with veterans and the rate of PTSD is extremely high in Vietnam veterans and it also occurs in the others, it doesn't seem to miss any war era. And it is real. The VA has good treatment programs for it.

I think the best way to find the answers to your questions would be to contact the local VA office, there you would be able to find a doctor who treats PTSD. Some of the questions that you could ask are how has PTSD impacted your life since returing to the states? how is the military helping you adjust to being back home? Many soldiers who suffer from PTSD are going through divorces and are dealing with very complex emotions. It may be difficult to interview someone who has the disorder who will be willing to answer the personal questions. Good luck with your project!

According to various sources the incidence of anxiety-related disorders in Vietnam veterans runs at anything between 12 and 25% greater than normal, depending on how it's measured, and it affects their children also; and for every name on that wall in Washington DC there are two suicides.

(Except that if you are a patient in The Priory Hospital in the UK, the therapists use a handout that says that nobody ever harmed themselves or anyone else because of anxiety, and if you tell them these statistics they punish you - that's what happened to me).
