Aren't those all traits that an omniscent perfect God would have no reason to have since God would know jealousy and anger are easily resolved by finding a solution through understanding and patience versus angry reaction that cause more harm than good?

Because God is Who He is, He truly deserves all our praise and worship. He has every right to be righteously jealous when we give His due to another god. His anger is righteous, as well. We can't ever get righteously jealous like He has the right to because we did not create the world and everything in it. It's all His. He isn't mean or vengeful or cruel; that's a human misperception. He can get jealous and angry without sinning, however (humans have an extremely hard time putting those things together: anger or jealousy AND not sinning) because He is God.

Because you speak English and the "Old Testament God" spoke the Bible in ancient Hebrew. What we read as "jealous" and "angry" means something entirely different in Biblical Hebrew.

What's more I don't see anything wrong with a bit of anger now and then. God was positively mad at the Israelites when they worshipped the golden calf. This idea that anger is an absolute evil is just silly. There are times in which we need to show an anger. The key is keeping composure. If you're kid does something really stupid--gets thrown into detox, par example--you are going to make a show of anger so he gets the message that that behavior is not okay. God is perfect and he should feel not rage or jealousy. But by showing anger he made clear how seriously he took sin.

How did God feel as he surveyed the depravity and the violence on earth? “Jehovah felt regrets that he had made men in the earth,” says the Bible, “and he felt hurt at his heart.” (Genesis 6:5, 6, 11, 12) God felt regrets in that the [conduct of humans had become so evil] that he had a change of attitude as regards the wicked pre-Flood generation. Because of his displeasure over their wickedness, God turned from the attitude of the Creator of humans to that of a destroyer of them. Yet, “he was merciful; he would cover the error and not bring ruin. And many times he made his anger turn back, and he would not rouse up all his rage.” (Psalm 78:38-41) Even though the rebellious Israelites rightly suffered the consequences of their own sinfulness, the Bible tells us that “during all their distress it was distressing to [God].”—Isaiah 63:9.

I have often wondered about that myself. In the bible they mention G*D as being angry, of being vengeful ( Exodus's). I often wonder if it was the human writers of the bible that wrote these emotions because humans feel them and it would make G*D more human, less ethereal and more real. Since I guess it's always been this way that either you believe or you don't so if you make G*D more human, it's easier to accept it.
Does that sound plausible?
Good question!!!
Bye.

need to rethink this. the people of the bible were primative. barely past the stage of worshipping rocks and trees. the words of the bible were written by these primatives who had a very poor concept of god. the stories were made up, not based on anything real. and not written for modern man.

Thats the OT God. Jesus showed up and, like Tide Detergent, made God New and Improved.

You can't expect those story tellers remember the point they made years back when the scribes Union only allowed a few of them to learn to write. then the kings re-wrote many also.

It also states that he is a jelous God and does not want anybody to come before him. God gets angry with people sinning, because he gave us the option with adam and eve. he gets angry when you sin and keep sinning without asking for forgiveness, because thats what his son Jesus sacraficed his life for was our sins. hope this helps
