The main reason a dog will do this is because they are lacking something in thier diet! Ask your vet what the best food would be to feed him. Remember if it comes from the groceryt store it is no good!! Would be like eating Burger King everyday.
Good Foods
Nutro
Nature Reciept
Avodreme
Royal Caine (these are just a few)
Next is goto your pet store and there is a powder you can buy called ForBid to add to the food and this will believe it or not make to poo taste bad so he will not eat it!! Hope this helps!!

why dogs eat their poos.
some reasons why:
1. smell food in the poo. poor digestive system
2. been too long in the crate and so play and eat the poo.
deter 60 and Coprophagia tablets do help. But I do have some custromers' feedbacks saying after they stopped feeding, the dogs went back to eat the poos.
What I would suggest is to give some plain yogurt to help with the digestive system. Change to a better diet.
Then try to clean up the poos right after the dog did the business.

I have always heard critters do this for two reasons, one being boredom/attention, the other being a vitamin deficiency (more coming out then staying in). Switch to a high quality dog food immediately and do not feed table scraps. Dog food is not fit for humans and visa-versa (tempting as it is to feed Fido what he truly seems to want!). If you are giving him attention when he eats his feces, please make sure it is negative, a stern "no" and redirection of activity. Lots of time with puppy and lots of positive attention and praise for good deeds should straighten this behavior right out. Good luck!

It might help if the droppings were cleared right away. If your pup is crated, you have to make sure it goes before you put her away. I crate my 5-mo old pup while I'm at work. I make sure she goes in the morning before I leave. Then, I go home for lunch everyday, and take her out again. Then return her to her crate and go back to work. Even when I take her outside, I clear to droppings right away. This eliminates her having that any access to it.

Dods eat their dropping because they can smell undigested food in it. It may also mean a deficiancy in his diet. He could be lacking certain minerals, check with your vet. The best way to stop it to pick it up as soon as it comes out, if you can...

Eww....
I would suggest scolding him and removing him from the area when he is doing it. He's still young so it shouldn't be too hard to stop him now.
Also maybe some obedience school is in order.
