My son is 21 months old. He is very tall for his age, but thinner than the adverage child. He is wearing 24 mnths clothes well and has been for about 3 months. I am wanting to buy ahead while off season clothes are on sale, but need help. How old was your child when they wore 2T, How about 3T, and 4T?
Please let me know how old your child is and what their build is so I can guess what my son's build might need to fit him.
Thank you very much.

My daugher will be three in march and still can't wear 24 months. She's in the 75th percentile for her height (very tall) and in the 25th percentile for her weight (very tiny build).18 months fit her waist but come up past her ankles!
I buy the 24 month jeans and buy a belt to keep her pants up. If you can sew or know someone who can sew, you can go ahead and buy the size for his age, and have the material taken-up a bit. Then, if its still in good condition when he's older, they can pull the thread and do it again.
Thanks for asking this question! I hope I find an answer too!

My son typically wore larger size in shirts than pants. When he was 1 year old, he was wearing 18 months pants and 2T shirts. We actually pretty much skipped 24 months and went from 18 months to 2T.

He's two now and wearing 3T across the board. He's also tall & thin. Some of the more expensive brands are actually a good deal for pants because they have expandable waist bands that will make the pants fit MUCH longer.

My son is 3, he's wearing pretty much a 4T with a few 3T items mixed in.

At 2, he was wearing 24mo/2T (pretty much the same thing). At 2.5 he was wearing 3T.

My son is kind of short (luckily he just had a growth spurt and back into the 50% from 20%), not fat nor skinny. I have to get zip pants.

I've been buying 5's for next summer and 6's for next winter. We live in AZ, so summer clothes are worn almost all year

My son just turned 3 and is big for his age. He wears between 3T and 5T now depending on the brand. He's a solid kid and tall, not chubby at all (about 40 someting lbs.) You may want to buy 2T ... You may notice that most 2T stuff is bigger than 24 months clothes. Try that.

Every child is different and you never know when they might hit a growth spurt. My kids are 2.5 years old now, twins. They still wear 18 month pants, but they wear 2T T-shirts. They are extremely short. I tried buying off season clothes on clearance, but it didn't work. They ended up not fitting when the season hit. No real way to know what size your child will be next winter. Good luck!

All kids are different, they grow at different rates. A 24 months is just about the same as a 2T in most stores. Your best bet is to buy "staples" in the next few sizes. Things like jeans, socks, t-shirts, shoes, etc. That is what I did with all of mine. That way when you decide to go shopping for the things in season, you will be buying a lot less.

I have three boys...3,4,11. The 3 and 4 year old have different body types....the 3 year old is a little chunkier than the 4 year old. Both boys are in 4T right now, although the 4 year old is kind of outgrowing that size and going toward the regular size 4.
