First, take a look at your parents, aunts, and uncles. If they are all a bit chunky then I wouldn't worry about it.

Second, you are starting to enter puberty, and are probably coming up on a growth spurt. By the summer you will probably be taller and a lot slimmer simply by nature.

Third, stay away from diets, power bars and power shakes. At this point in your life they will only cause you problems in the future.

Remember, the fastest, and easiest solution is not always the best.

Drink as much water as you can handle, if you are not involved in any sports yet join a team. Go for walk after school, and after dinner every day. Find a friend who likes to walk, and you can chat away those extra pounds in no time. If you are a good swimmer, join the school swim team. You'd be amazed at how much swimming sculps the body!!

Last, but not least..... No matter what anyone says, you are NOT fat, or ugly, or anything horrible. You are young, and still growing. I'll bet that by the time school starts next fall people will be asking you to try out for the cheerleader squad!!

Hi - the best thing you can do is exercises. Get involved in a FUN activity - something like soccer, where you do a lot of running around, while having fun. When I was a teenager I was so active I was able to eat anything I wanted- but I rarely ever sat down in front of a T.V. (and computers didn't really exist yet) As soon as I stopped moving, I started gaining weight.

Try not to "diet" it is a bad way to go through life. Just eat a balanced diet. Avoid Sugar and Chips and eat lots of veggies and healthy protein. Don't skip meals - when you starve your body, it actually holds onto the fat and melts away the muscle. Eat small meals through out the day. Your body is still developing and you need nutrition to get a good healthy body to carry you through the rest of your life.

My final advise is to really study your habits, if your are already eating healthy meals, avoiding junk food and exercising - you might just be a large person. There is nothing wrong with that - Just be healthy.

Ok first off you're only 13 you'll grow into your body. But if you want to really really lose weight join a sport or exercise. You need yo eat cause you're still young just exercise and keep active. Don't worry so much about it. It also depends on how tall you are and how tall you are going to get.

I think you need to lose more than 20 lbs., but that's a good goal to set to begin.

First, stop drinking soda! Even diet soda is bad for you - it has chemicals that make you feel hungry. Drink only water, skim or 1% milk, or tea without sugar.

Secondly, stop eating fast food and junk food. Eat fruit and vegetables instead. If you need a snack, try Baked Lays or string cheese.

Thirdly, start walking 30 minutes every day. Walk with a friend or walk the dog.

First, go to this website. http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm and check how much you are SUPPOSED to weigh. You may not be as overweight as you think. If you DO need to lose weight, lots of excercise, drink plenty of water, eat a healthy and balanced diet, and you'll see that weight coming off. You're young.. lots of energy. it shouldn't be too difficult for you.. :) Just don't put it off.. or it will get harder. Good Luck!

Well, that depends on how tall you are. I am 160 lbs. But very tall, so I am within average weight range, and happy with it! Not to mention, with your age, you are probably hitting puberty which makes you gain a lot of weight, but it goes away, don't worry!

You should work out more, maybe a jog around your neighborhood 5 times and eat power bars so you can go longer jogging and go to the gym at your closest rec center. Maybe even join a basketball team

you're still young. dieting at such a young age is not good for you. you should start eating healthier until your body gets out of its awkward teen stage..
