Depression is anger turned inside out. You will get your life back, one step at a time. Go to a doc and they will figure out what to help you with first; the depression or the drinking. They will probably set you up with counseling.

I've also heard the opposite....that anger is depression turned inside out. Usually, when I've come across people with drinking problems or drug problems in my line of work, there usually is underlying depression that they numb with drugs or alcohol. You can get your life back, but you have to be willing to work at it. Find AA meetings in your area, and try to get into inpatient (or outpatient depending on how long you have been drinking) treatment. It is possible, but you have to look inside yourself for the answers to why your are drinking. You're only 52...you got a lot of life to live, and I want you to start enjoying it! May God bless you and good luck. (feel free to email me if you need any help: Genea_80@yahoo.com)

No, and this is only my opinion mind you but I think depression is total hopelessness. You could go to re-hab but think about this; do you really know how to have a good time with just a few drinks, say a social evening walking around with a drink talking, enjoying the company. Take away a poor bar, put you up town and teach you how to drink( if that's your forte') and gradually you will ween yourself off. But you just don't know how to drink and your in poor social surroundings. Challenge yourself, see how strong you really are inside. Go get some self help books on getting your life together. YOU CAN DO THIS!

No. Anger is how you are expressing your depression. Not the other way around.

Who knows if you drink because your are depressed or if your depression is the result of your drinking. It doesn't matter though, does it?

Get your butt to AA.......
