I'm planning a 'destination' wedding to the Bahamas for May. My best friend is pregnant and won't be able to make a flight during May as a result. I was the maid of honor at her wedding. Since there isn't a whole lot of planning involved for my wedding and could be done at any time really, is it unfair to not wait until later in the year so that she can attend? Or is it OK to go ahead with it without her since I really don't want to put it off another 6 months? Also, I'm not sure I really want her there since she has a generally bad attitude about everything and I imagine she'll have plenty of comments about how her wedding was so much better. (I'm just not interested in the big church wedding and reception.)

GO AHEAD WITH YOUR WEDDING, I WOULDN'T WANT HER AT MY WEDDING IF SHE HAS A BAD ATTITUDE.IF YOU AND THE GROOM ARE THE ONLY ONES THERE, THAT IS OK. WHEN I GOT MARRIED IT WAS THE PREACHER, MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND. IT HAS LASTED 52 YEARS. GOOD LUCK TO A LONG, HAPPY MARRIAGE.

You've answered your own question....follow your heart. (last two sentences you stated how you felt)

However if you still want to let her fill included you could tell her that you really wish that she could be there however you know that you will be there for each other at other future times.....and that she is still be your Maid of Honor in heart .....and leave that spot open...
have the next one in line be your #1 however give her another name. >>>. I can't think of a name...be creative. It's your wedding you can do whatever you want.

Remember its your day and your memories.

Things happen for a reason and sounds like yours happened just for you.

best wishes

She may not be able to travel 6 months later because she'll be taking care of an infant. Plan your wedding whenever you want.

You've got a reason to want out and a means to do it. Don't stress over it. Besides, she's going to be plenty busy enough preparing for baby.

Its your wedding...if she's just going to complain anyway then why would you want her there? Just because you were her maid of honor doesn't mean she has to be yours!

Maybe she's cranky because she's upset that you're planning a wedding for the one time period that she physically cannot make it?

It's YOUR wedding so do what you want. If you really wanted her there you'd wait. I think you've made your own decision.

Good Luck. I hope you enjoy it.

Doesn't sound like much of a best friend to me. Ditch her and ENJOY yourself.
