a vibrating tuning fork is placed at the open end. as the water is lowered,resonance is first heard when the length of the column is 18.9 cm and then when it is 57.5 cm . what is the frequency of the tuning fork ?

This is a closed end pipe. There is no 2nd harmonic, so we are concerned with the 1st and 3rd harmonics of the pipe. These occur at 18.9cm and 57.5cm.
V=F*W (1st harm. is 4W 3rd harm. is 4/3W)
V-velocity F-frequency W-wavelength

340=F*0.189*4
F=449.7

340=F*(4*0.575)/3
F=443.5

Freq ~446 Hz

At the lower water level I got 147.82 Hz.(Not the Tuning fork freq)
