It should take less than 3 hours but then again traffic's a mess in the metro area here most of the time...I guess it really depends on the time and date of arrival. Anyways the best bet on this may be calling the taxi companies yourself. Also make sure you don't mention the fact that you two CAN'T rent a car ...that would give the impression that you're willing to pay more. Ask them about luggage too in case you're bringing extras. And you say Rincon huh ? if you're gonna be surfing and bringing your surfboard then ( it depends on the driver) the may charge you a bit more. When you do get to Rincon don't forget to watch the sunset from "Calypso"..it's quite a view !! You will notice that the streets in Rincon are narrow and curvy... with houses extremely close to the road... so trust me, you won't regret not being able to drive a rental. Rincon is one of the few places left in Puerto Rico with a laid back, bohemian feel to it....

Hope you enjoy your stay.

If you can, try to look into "Carros Públicos" or "Lineas", they are a more humble kind of Taxis. Usually big Buicks or vans. Some of them already have planned long distance routes like the one you are taking at a set rate not a meter. I used to travel from the southwest(Guánica) to the north (Rio Piedras) for like $20 bucks(in 2000). I would have to call ahead and make a reservation and they can pick you up where ever you are staying at. CHeck the yellow pages and call them up for a price.

I hope I was helpful.

Why not fly into Aguadilla instead? Its much closer to Rincon, traffic will be much more manegeable, and the taxi will not be as expensive.

Your better off flying into aguadilla. aguadilla is 25 min. away. the trip from san juan will cost you around 200.00 and up. Rent a car and get a map. I am sure you won't get lost. Good Luck!
