Get a good conditioner. I use spray on conditioner. It helps alot.
Brush your dog before bathing. It is because water will tighten the tangles, making it harder to untangle the fur.

Believe it or not I use "people" hair conditioner. I rub it all over my puppy named "kuma" which means "bear" and just leave it ,after that I brush out the knots It relaxes the curls. I do this once a day. Hope it helps

Buy a very good dog brush designed to remove excess hair and use it. I suggest the Furminator, which you can buy at Petsmart. It's a little expensive but it's worth it for the decreased shedding and how good your dog will look.

What has worked best for me is daily brushings. Some dogs need it daily, especially longer haired dogs.

Daily brushing. To the skin. Have your groomer show you how, if necessary.
