I've tried everything I could think of and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what everything entails. However, the diapers and pull-ups are so comfortable that kids seem to take longer to potty train sometimes.

I've heard of people putting a piece of cloth in the diaper. It keeps the mess where it belongs, but makes the kid uncomfortable and can quicken the process.

I've had two of three make it almost/just past 3 before being trained. You're probably on the verge and don't know it.

That is one thing kids can control is were they go potty. You have to wait until they are ready. I have a 2 and a half year old and some days she is totally into going potty and will go all day long without an accident and other days she could care less and doesnt use the potty at all. I remind her but I don;t push the issue. With my older 2 kids, they just one day decided they were going potty and that was it, no more diapers after they decided. Good Luck, he will come around on his time!

It is suggested to wait for children to come around on their own when it comes to potty training. Otherwise you are wasting a lot of energy! However, I have heard that one thing that works really well (if you have what it takes to go through with it!) is taking the diaper away cold turkey. Have your son where underwear under a pair of those plastic underwear protectors. When he wets it will be extremely uncomfortable and he will want out of those pants ASAP! Supposedly that is one of the fastest ways to get your child to no longer want a diaper.

Boys take longer then girls to take to the potty.
Sometimes telling them they get a treat for using the potty helps . He is wearing pants and not diapers in the day time ?
Don't worry he will come around when you start backing off a little .:)

I'm not sure what to tell you exactly because what do you mean by you tried everything!!

just chuck the diapers. buy big boy underwear and let him pick them out

be patient and wait
e-mail me and let me know what exactly you tried already.

he could be just trying to control a part of his life . try giving him more choices and treat him like a big boy by giving him some small responsibilities like putting his own dishes in the sink and clothes in the hamper(my daughter has been doing this sense she was 20 months old)

did you try pull-ups??
have him go potty whenever you go??

All I did when I trained my daughter was take away the diapers and put underwear on her . I kept a potty in her room , in the living room and in the bathroom so she was never to far away from one. I would put her on when ever I went, 20 minutes after eating and whenever I thought she looked like she had to go.

Although it may be difficult to do so... try making potty training fun for you and your son. Be creative and make games with your toddler that will interest him to use the potty. You may also consider a reward system for everytime your son successfully makes it to the potty. And remember that toilet training should not be stressful on a child otherwise he may not want to use the toilet.

My son just turned 3 and while he pees in the potty pretty good, he refuses to poop (although he did it on x-mas all by himself!) Anyways, now when he poops, he hides behind a chair or something so you can't see him. I think it's kinda funny, but I have heard of boys doing that. :) We sing a potty song when he has to go ... But really you will know when he's ready, my son is just now wanting to do "everything" by himself including potty ... just give it time. :)

My son is almost 3. He still resists all my efforts to potty train him, too. It must be an age thing. My mom says boys are harder and take longer to train than girls. (My 16 month old girl is almost trained.) Nothing has worked for my son so far. So, I don't have any advice for you, ther. Sorry.

Give him time. He will come around , some times it take kids longer. Maybe he is not ready yet. Try not to rush him to grow up so fast. He will use the potty when he is ready
