The Ignition module is about from 2 to21/2 inches long.It is located under the distributor cap on the distributor body it self.Black in color and has about 7 electical Blade connections.2-hex head srews hold it in place.Just unbolt it and remove electrical conneectors.Apply jell to the back of new module and install. If this is not a carburated engine I need more info.If no spark condition ,Check water temp sensor for proper connection,as a bad connection = no start.

I don't think any motors that were put into a 1990 Ciera had distributors anymore. It helps when you ask a question to be specific about what type of motor you are working on!! Let's assume it is the most popular for this year and car. A 3.1L, V-6 code T. If this is the case the module is located directly behind the coolant fan motor and is mounted onto the motor's block just above the oil filter. These are a bit of a bear to change. Have to mark and remove all plug wires, remove battery power or ground to isolate, remove all electrical connectors to module (3), remove wire support (these are generally siezed to the stud), remove the 3 studs to the block and the whole module/coil pack assembly can be wiggeled out. Now transfer coils, if they are good, onto the new module and mounting plate and reverse removal procedure. If this is a 2.5L, it is the same type of thing, but the coil pack/module assembly is on the rear of the motor's block. Same type of procedure though. If this is a 3.8L motor, just split the coil pack from the module after removing the plug wires. Disconnect the coils from the module, remove the electrical connector from the module, and remove 3 mounting nuts under the bracket. Good luck.

this could be a particularly uncomplicated technique, yet is in maximum cases a soreness to alter. the starter sits top the place the font circulate member sits. you ought to pull the two bolts that carry it to the block. bear in mind that one is quite longer than the different one and the shim in basic terms is going in one way, and is a ought to or the starter kit will hit the flywheel and not have interaction appropriate and reason harm. as you pull the starter out you ought to rotate it in the direction of the front of the automobile on its backside around the circulate member. pull the two wires on the decrease back. the enormous nut must be the two as 14mm or a 15mm. the small one must be a 7mm or a 6mm.. do no longer bear in mind. and remeber the 1st factor you ought to do is disconnect the battery. it is going to take approximately half-hour to try this. and don't bear in mind if between the bolts maintains to be interior the starter once you pull it out or no longer. its been some years considering that i've got completed one. and that i do no longer think of which you may use a ratchet, you ought to adhere with hand wrenches. no longer sufficient room in there.
