Taurus for sure. I have had a number of Taurus/Sables and have had no problem with either of them. I preferred the Aerostar over the Windstar myself but that was quite a time ago. The Taurus I have now is a 1993 with almost 300,000 miles on it. She starts right up in the dead of winter and have NEVER had a problem with it other than the usual maintenance & batteries, tires, etc.

Both the windstar and the taurus are very solid vehicles. I own both. My taurus has 229,000+ miles and my windstar has 168,000+ miles and they both are still running great. It's all in you being willing to take the time and service it at proper intervals. As with any vehicle, you give it good service, it will give good service back to you. You can't just drive them and expect them to last forever. When someone says that a particular car is a peice of crap, it is usually because that they do not take the time to take care of it and service it properly.

Don't listen to that freak up there, he just acts like he knows what he's talking about. The only reason he works on more Ford transmissions is because there are many more people that own them rather than GM products. It's a shame that people blab their opinion without doing their research. Either one of them cars would be great, just depends on your needs. I have an 1992 Explorer with 180 thousand miles on it and have never had a bit of trouble with it. Can't say that about the GM products or any other brand for that matter. Good-luck!

This is a funny question. You're comparing a sedan to a minivan. And the funnier part is that the windstart is essentially a ford taurus with a taller body. They are both going to have about the same resale and reliability in the long run. So go with what fits your needs.

Ford Taurus - I've had one since 2001 and so far it's a solid mid size vehicle we've taken on a lot of trips. I've known people who have had windstars and wouldn't recommend.

yet not the 1996 fashions..... taurus has a three.0 v6... maximum windstars got here with the three.8 v-6 diverse animals... Your windstar has extra in instantly ahead with a mustang v-6 and a v6 f-one hundred and fifty from 1997 than a taurus (engine sensible.. i imagine it shared a similar transmission as some tauruses)

after being in the transmission business for over 10 years, i have found that ford products have the worst transmissions in the business by far. over 40% of the vehicles that we worked on in the shop were fords and considering that there are a lot of american models out there that really says something. if you want a great vehicle with the best american made transmission buy gm and now a very limited number of dodge/chrystler/jeep products have gone with a mercedes benz design and it should hold up very nicely. i have just purchased a new jeep wrangler 4 door and really like it.
