Copy = Control+C (after the text has been selected)
Paste = Control+V

Select multiple files not in consecutive order: Click the first, then press and hold the control key while you click the rest.

If you delete a shortcut - you delete a shortcut - the program remains untouched. Just be sure you see the arrow on the icon and that you are in fact deleting the shortcut.

To right-click a shortcut: press the mouse key on the right side. It will bring up a submenu.

Empty the Recycle Bin: empties the bin - like throwing out the trash.

Search Companion? Which one? I use Start, Search to find a file when I have forgotten its name but remember a unique word or two of text.

What I learned from this tutorial - somebody needs to buy a book or two. May I suggest www.amazon.com. Look for the link to books, then look for used books. I have purchased many books here, saved a lot of money, and all books I have received so far have been in like-new condition.

14. copy/paste is Ctrl+c for copy and Ctrl+v for paste.15.
15. select files not in order = press and hold Ctrl, click files
16. nothing happens to existing program, only the shortcut gets deleted.
17. right clicking and choosing add shortcut brings up a dialog box that enables you to navigate to the file or folder you want the shortcut for.
18. emptying the trash causes the files in it to be thrown into the free space of the hard drive with a kind of tag letting the system know they can be overwritten and are not to be counted as existing, and that makes them unavailable to the system otherwise - that is, they're gone.
19. you use Search to find the location of folder and files
20. You learned how to use XP better.
