Well, I wouldn't be on the computer asking medical questions.
BUT, since you're here. You could go fill the bathtub with cold water. Lay in it for a while. Check your temp. My Parents had to do this to my Brother one time (at a Doctor's request) and it brought his temp down. As cold as you can stand it.

Is it trending up or down? Have you taken any aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen?
102.2 is not critical. Fever serves a purpose in the body's defense against illness. If it starts spiking towards 103 or up, yes, I'd hit the ER. 104 is considered threshold for danger.
Bathing in cool water may provide temporary fever reduction, but then the body's heat conservation mechanisms kick in. Plus, a cold bath when you have a fever probably won't feel all that good.

Whether or not you should seek medical help (and you just did) depends on the cause of the infection. If it's flu, take 650 of Tylenol every 4 hrs. and monitor your temp. A cool shower or bath will help lower body temp, stay lightly covered and drink plenty of water (okay if cold). At 102 and often even before this, we start cooling measures. You can do this at home by following the steps I've given. If your temp continues to climb, have yourself driven to an ER. You will need a cooling blanket and IV fluids along with the rest of the protocol.

Take ibuprofen or paracetamol to reduce your temperature. Drink lots of water. Take outer layers off but don't get so cold you start to shiver. Rest.
You have a fever, yes. But since you are well enough to ask questions on here, it clearly isn't that bad.
PS Are you a man, by any chance?

If you get into the tub don't get into cold water, I believe it is suppose to be luke warm. Cold water isn't good when your body temp is up.
Depending on other symptoms..take a fever reducer, get lots of fluid and rest. If your fever isn't gone in a couple of days call your doctor or call your doctor if your fever doesn't go down with the fever reducer.

Not if that is your only symptom. You probably have the flu. What else are you suffering from? If its a virus, just take your vitamins, drink lots of fluids, get lots of rest and let the fever do its job. It's fighting your illness. Now if you don't get better soon, then call your doctor.

I'd say that was well worth a call to NHS 24 or whatever it's called wherever you live. It's a fairly high fever. Yes. Definitely.

depends if you have accompanying symptoms, tired, lethargic, aching etc - you have a high fever as in flu and paracetamol will help.
Any other less common symptoms e.g. rash , swelling, dizziness call NHS Direct soon.

Take two paracetamol Martin and see how you get on. It is not life threatening unless you have gangrene as well or your guts are spilling out.

Take ibuprofen (unless your're allergic). Go to bed, drink lots of water. If it's still high tomorrow, go to doctor.
